Just wondering if you (the reader) consider yourself a good person.

I don't mean in the eyes of the law or what other people think of you but just in your own mind.

I've been a firm believer in the ways of good people deserve good fortune and a good life but lately i'm starting to have doubts as for the past four years i have had nothing but bad luck apart from marriage and kids.

I think I stand right in the middle. Some of the things from my past though legal haunt me a little, and stuff I didn't do haunts me also.

 

Hard to explain, im an ass but im genuinely a good person if that makes any sense at all.

 

I believe we are for the most part hard wired to think we are a good person and I am no exception.

I do not believe for one second that being a good person means good things come to us and vice versa. Just as I do not believe that if bad things come that must mean we are a bad person. Life gives inevitable ups and downs in life no matter what our character actually is.

People get out of life what we put into it and one cannot be a spectator to ones life and just hope good things happen or they deserve to happen.

I'd suggest the question itself is a form of self-imprisonment to some kind of external societal moral control imprinted on you from an early age.

What is good? Is there some kind of universal example of it shared by all cultures across all time? Is worrying that you're good a good thing? If you can't define these things clearly, how do you pick between those who "ought" to have good fortune and those who shouldn't? Maybe none of us are "good", maybe all of us are.

Try some Buddhism on for size - I think it might help relieve your angst about your lot in life . . . good luck!

I suppose I'm a good person as in nice I respect women I don't cheat on women etc. I don't see that right but I'm nice and care about other peoples feelings. If someone I know need a little hand I'm willing to lend them a helping hand. (Non sexual, ofcourse)
