The sad thing is? I do know what all these are and when to use them correctly. It's sad that out of all the things my brain could retain, it latched on to punctuation. (I'm an editor by trade.) Won't call you out for improper use, though, unless you pay me :excited:

 

Interestingly, Shakespeare didn't spell his name the same twice. I don't think there were such strict rules about grammar and spelling back then.

 

When i'm typing - in conversation, papers, or on a forum - i DO use a dictionary if i'm not sure how to spell something. So i have absolutely no problem holding others to the same standard.

In addition, i can understand Shakespeare, as well as literature from the turn of the century. 1905 is not that hard.

I can't spell for toffee and I have sentences that run on forever but it is a trivial thing to haul somebody over the carpet for besides which one day I might say something interesting and I wouldn't want you to miss it just because of spelling or hyphenation dslexia sometimes the funniest threads derive from misspelt sentences you don't have to take it seriouslythis was easy enough to read was it not

I've noticed that most of the people that say they can't spell pretty much can (maybe they take care of what they are writing) and those that say they can make some godawful mistakes - maybe it's complacency?

Writers are allowed this "creative freedom" and such to dodge grammar, spelling and punctuation rules in cases that they choose to allow them freedom in/with/what they Write.
