If you're getting sick that often, I wouldn't roll over and take it but be questioning why. Get your house checked for mould and radon etc, or just eat more healthy.

Also, everyone thinks that huge vit c intake is good - even the scripted dosage. But your body can only absorb a certain amount over a certain time, and its certainly not going to absorb much more than a few hundred mg, let alone multiple 3000mg horse pills of which I dispise greatly, being a med school student.

Always take liquid form vitamins if possible, the absorbtion rate in the intestine is much faster thus 90% of the nutrients in the pill don't end up in the toilet.

I find that if I take medication that it is gone in 7 days and if I do nothing it is gone in a week , lol .

I have a friend that does this and swears by it : when he feels a cold coming on he takes a spoon full of Vick's vaporub and eats it and says he has never had a cold for more than a day ............. yuck .

All of the things you've taken only relieve symptoms. None of them constitute a "cure". You pretty much just have to ride it out, and try to keep your immune system in decent working order.

It's been quite awhile since I got sick, now that I think about it...

Hot steamy shower, a good soak in the tub, make a cocoon out of blankets, that's what I do. I try to avoid my doctor because he's sort of a douche.

 

For almost a year, anytime I feel a cold coming on I start taking Zicam. Only the kind you melt in your mouth, though. I swear if I get a cold at all, it's 2 days - tops. I tend not to get the flu, and I do not get yearly flu shots.

 

2 parts rum.
1 part honey.
1 lime wedge.
1 bowl hit for congestion.

 

oh yeah! i totally forgot! when u feel it coming on, yes Airborne really works!! i know about the lawsuit, but it works for me! it's just vitamins and herbs. but u can't take it the next day cuz it won't work. u gotta take it when u feel that first itch in your nose or throat, or the body chill.

 

As far as I know, colds are not something that can be treated or prevented, the flu can be, by getting flu shots, but I've seen many people get the shot...and get the flu anyway, as the one they got was for the wrong flu virus.

I just bundle up, drink lots of fluids, and eat liquid meals so it doesn't hurt or taste bad coming back up, and take tylenol for the fever. If it's a bad fever, I piggy back tylenol with advil every 4 hours.

So far I've survived.

TBH though, the H1N1 laid me out for about 2 months, and the people I gave it too, caught it within 24 hours of being in the room with me. Which, luckily, we kept down to 5 people, and then house bound ourselves.

 

If I feel a cold coming on I overdose on vitamin C like 2000mg per day and echinacea at least five fold.

A very hot chicken madras also seems to help.

I rarely get sick. The last cold/flu I had was like 3 years ago and I blame that on the bf, he brought it to me and we should not have been swapping spit.

There is no cure for colds or flu only palliative care, find what works for you, mine used to be a bottle of whiskey and a hat, go to bed put the hat on the bed post and drink till you see two hats, you aint cured but you just don't care.

 

Oddly enough, I just go about my normal routine. I might take an antihistamine or a decongestant so I can breathe properly, but other than that, symptoms show and disappear within a couple days.
