ok well here it goes, the other day i wanted to watch a movie and my father in law has them all in his computer, so i went on it with my flash drive, and well i found nothing so i found his external hard drive and thought to myself he must have them on there so i plugged it and and well found them....but that is not the only thing i found, i went thru some file and found something very disturbing... first i found pictures of his gf daughter on ther showing her tits and she is only 15, the very disturbing thing i found was pedo vids on there of 4, 8, 10y.o girls and well i don't know what to do. my gf knows and she id discussed, should i turn him in or confront him and see what he say? and if he trys to erase it i have a back up of all his file and the highlighted the prpertied of what computer it came from, in case i need proof of what he does and erases anything. so what do people in here think i should do?

This is good advice, and the second point rings very true. Playing games like emailing his sick little collection to everyone in his address book is something that should probably be done (to keep him away from their children) but only *after* you have got all the evidence you can and turned it into your police station. If it was me, I wouldn't even confront him about it. Just let the police do the confronting.

Go to the police. Don't give him the option of turning himself in, don't warn him beforehand (and make sure your wife doesn't either). Bring the proof you have to the police station, and show it to them. Give them his address, and his possible itinerary for that day (for example, if he's at work, give them his work address).
