  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

OK, before you flame me, please read what i have to say.

I don't know anyone that died in the terrorist attack of 9/11. So I don't care that it happened, except that the news took over all my normal TV programs at the time, and now it's being used as an excuse to take away my rights and freedoms.

You might call me heartless, but then do you care about the hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children who just died in the time it took you to read this? They died in violence, in starvation, of poverty and disease.
Now I don't care about them either. I care about the people who influence me. I care about family and friends, and to a small extent, their friends. Some people can, and do have even wider empathy circles than that. But the point is that it is a finite amount. There is a limit to how many people we can care about. It's human nature, and it is not wrong.
I bring this up because I am tired of public being unwilling to risk human life to explore our universe. If asked I would absolutely volunteer to risk my life for a chance to increase our knowledge of the universe. Great men and women have done so in our past to accomplish amazing things including landing on the moon. But because of the hippy movement, and the fear of losing a human life, our progress has slowed to a crawl. The Apollo rockets used less computer power than a common calculator. We should have moon bases and a colony on Mars right now, and the reason we do not is because we have this false belief than human life is worth more than it really is.
If you think I am wrong, then why didn't you invite that bum into your home to take care of him this morning?

WE (The US?) value life? TOTAL BS why cant elderly people with low incomes have their teeth and other health issues taken care of. Why cant people with good credentials over 50 or 60 get a new job. Why has the government done things to make life more difficult: ie:higher housing costs, higher insurance costs, higher medical costs, higher utility costs (of course the deregulation which simply allowed greedy bastards to insert themselves between the source and consumer to rake off more profit and OH). Why is medical care and hospitals all now profit driven instead of care driven (one big reason for the increased cost of care.)

Why are we fighting wars continuously to keep killing off the young mostly men and why aren't the veterans getting help from the VA don't tell me they are, I know too many that aren't.

True but none of those things are directly confronted by the american populace. Those are small abstract things, that frankly no one cares about. Where as if someone dies in a shuttle accident, all of a sudden the world is appalled that we would risk a poor astronauts life, never mind that they volunteered ans they new the risks.

    i thought exactly

we're a first world country. driven by corporate greed and selfishness.
we kick our fellow man down. i see it everyday. trust me on that.
here's how it works. if you have some form of " governmental insurance ",

you get second rated healthcare. meaning, if your sick and diagnose with something, there going to give you the least amount of treatment. this is due to reimbursement from the insurance companies. ie :

medicare, medicaid, chartered health, and etc. these guys ( blood suckers )
give back the lowest reimbursements too hospitals and private practice practitioners's. worse, they place you in a dirty, dingy, and smelly institution for rehabilatation and long term care.

BUT, !!!!!!!! if you have good healthcare coverage, you get to choose from a list of better institutions to choose from for the samething. when it comes to retiring, YOU !!!!!! NOT THE GOVERNMENT !!!!!!!!! is responsible for making sure you have more than enough, put away for retirement.

especially, if you want to be in those well off independent/ assisted living communities. it doesn't matter whether your black, white, rich, poor and etc.

it's all about the green. THE BIG GREEN !!!!!!!!!. PERIOD.
the food is horrible. i wouldn't feed it to my dog. she's been dead for about 10 years. BUT, !!!!!!!!! if you were in one of those upscale places, you get a better quality of food. why do you think, alot of the elderly population

are malnutrition due to this. poor quality food means, poor health.
atleast, in the upscale places, you get a menu to look at, and be serve what you ask for. just like dining out at a nice restaurant. tableclothe's,
design crystal glasses, lantern's on the table too.

those shit holes. a tiny eating table in your room, the food smells horrible, looks like imitation SHIT. most residence don't like the way it looks, smells, and taste's either. so, they just don't eat it. this why, they whine up in the hospital malnurished, frail, and generalized weakness all over.

so, for those of you who have love ones in an institution, go have dinner with them. bring your own dinner, and have diner with them. look at the dog shit they serve to them. you will not eat it either.

do i need to say more ?.

The government did not do that. The business community did. People are getting richer because of the problems you list, but they are not in the government.

No man is an island entire of itself; every man
    is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

First, don't blame our lack of growth or investment in human intellectual development on the "Hippie" movement. They are not the ones who determined and influenced the decision making process to value human life as you imply. They just wanted a chance to turn away from the established processes of the late 60's and not be judged for their actions. So, put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Second, human nature as a society values any human life lost. Not as a deciding factor in the future, but just in terms of the loss of the life in and of itself. While I understand your position of "not caring" that doesn't mean you cannot express some sadness at the loss of human life before it's time. That does not mean you have to spend days and weeks and months or even years experiencing that loss.

As for having a colonization plan in place and perhaps even a colony on the moon or Mars or any other extraterrestrial body, there comes a fine time when the costs of completing such an activity must be compared to the overall ability of the community, state, nation, or international community to pay. At what point to we, as a human race, say other humans are not entitled to the same basic tenets as others - the right to pursue life, liberty, and happiness? At what point do we as a society say that any human is not entitled to some medical care? At what point do we draw the line in the sand for those who cannot fiscally afford the individual costs that would be required to contribute to the colonization?

With every action, there is a reaction. Keep in mind, for every extraterrestrial activity, there is a related financial cost. At some point, the community has to ask how much is too much?

As a NASA history buff, the answer to the second part of your question is basically that it costs too much and there are way too many problems with it. But believe me, the reason they arent sending up men back to the moon is not that they're afraid of losing them. NASA's lost astronauts before because of some design flaws on the Space Shuttles and being a bit negligent. They're working on the Orion project right now, which is basically a stream-lined version of the spacecrafts the Apollo missions used. Much cheaper, much safer, so I dont know where you're getting this idea that NASA is holding off because they're scared of losing astronauts. It's a simple matter of costs, and even right now, I think it's still too early, at least wait until we pick ourselves up from from this economic rut.

Did I feel a sense of loss when the twin towers came tumbling down, well no no any personal loss, but I sat and watched people dying live on my television, did that move me, hell yes it did. It was a moral issue not a personal one, an issue that should affect all but the socio or psychopathic amongst us.
As for placing myself in danger to help the world move forward, yes I have done that, I have stood between the bricks, bullets and bombs so that people can live their normal lives and would do so again.

Well I think that makes perfect sense, but of course I care about all the people dying right now and the people who died in 9/11 - I just don't think about it all the time and it doesn't strongly affect me because I was not involved personally.

I was sick of seeing the things about 9/11 for about a month on my television after it happened, but it definitely upset me and affected me as a person. After I watched a show where it played a couple of recordings from people inside the towers that really made me see that 9/11 was a real thing that happened and affected thousands of families. That show put a face to what happened, instead of just seeing two towers falling (which I'm not denying was absolutely heart wrenching) I saw people being slaughtered and forced to death before they were ready.

I think if you went to the memorial at the Ground Zero site it would upset you, once the situation is brought closer to home then you'll become affected.

I don't even like to see a deer die. When they show footage of pelicans covered in oil, just sitting there waiting to die, I have to turn the channel.

WTF? The start of OP's thread... thinking with an open mind I understood the purpose. How the Government using 11/9 (yes, I'm British) to take away freedoms, interfering with TV programmes etc. all because "Americans" (although not all who died were) deem themselves more important than anyone else, including about killing innocent peeps in Iraq etc. who are rarely thought of. It is selfish to say the slaughter of these people are fine just because alleged terrorists are in the country. Let me flip the tables, say there was a rogue US state... would it give a collection of Governments the right to murder those in other US states on racism by nationality? I don't think so.

Then some bullshit about a space shuttle or sth has less computing power than a calculator and human life is worthless - perhaps maybe exaggerated by me slightly. This is scum. People spent money on telescopes to explore the universe as a hobby/career... and now you saying its worth spending billions of dollars exploring (all cool but not necessary) when people are dying in the third world (and everywhere else too including in American slums) requiring basic food and shelter we all take for granted. You are right in certain respects, human life is sometimes worth less than we all think. Its people like you who are a waste of human life, you should do the decent thing instead of polluting the atmosphere with your CO2 and waste. Go figure.

I agree, we are all falling apart....its up to our childern and their children to save the day. Want a better world?--Teach your kids to do the right and honorable thing, and they can pass it on, and eventually everyone will do the same, and it will be the norm. Providing the world will be around that long...................

You actually fell for the family story? It wasn't a minnow smc, it was his lil Willy and she was laughing so hard that she choked on it. We all laughed because he thought that it meant he had a big un and a proton is actually larger.
