Different internet forums have different collective personalities. What is approved of on one forum will be accepted on a second. It will get one flamed on a third, and banned on a fourth.

These collective personalities are influenced by the rules of the forum. Nevertheless, some rules might not be enforced, or they might be selectively enforced against those the admin does not like. Also, one can obey the rules, and still get banned.

When I was on Stromfront I was careful to obey the rules. Unfortunately, I was banned after two weeks for pointing out that one of Hitler's accusations against German Jews was factually incorrect. I even documented my argument by posting a footnote from my copy of Mein Kampf. Nevertheless, I was banned without warning.

In order to learn about the collective personality of an internet forum one should lurk before posting. Learn who the major personalties are. Cultivate friendships via PMs.

 

Two points only with this post as it appears to be your thoughts and not a cut n paste as above.

What the fuck did you join stormfront for, did you expect reasoned discussion on race and politics from a bunch of right wing fanatics, or was it for the ego boost of taking a stance against the idiotic belief system of white supremacists and Nazism. Did you honestly think you could sit and openly point out the faults in the argument of these people or did you realise that their stance and politics was against all blacks and not just the bad ones.

Secondly, why do you need to lurk around like a spy to find the collective or individual personality of the members of the forum, why not jump right in and chat right away. Do you act in this manner in RL, just stand around in the bar for a week or so til you feel comfortable enough. Jump in and let people know your views on things so what if they don't agree with you, the lurking method smacks of politics and deceit.

Just a couple of thoughts, but again what the fuck do I know. The names of my kids and siblings and grankids I know these and you all probably don't, but apart from that and lots of other things that I know, what the fuck do I know.:excited:

 

I joined Stromfront as a lark. I knew I would get banned, but I wanted to see how long I would last. After I had been escorted out, several posters gloated that I had been purged for hating the white race.

 

Here's the thing - Emily was making a point about lurking/hiding in general. She doesn't understand why someone would join this site and then try to "hide" all of their information. While I may not agree with her opinion totally, she has a right to voice it. Considering you, admittedly, have only been here a short while, it would behoove you to understand who and whom you are ranting to and about before you stick your foot in your mouth and bite down. It does go to the 1st Amendment and the right to free speech (if you are in the USofA). She is fully entitled to her opinion, just as you are.

As for her opinion, I certainly did not interpret it as being from a bully pulpit. Have no clue why you did - but then again, I am not you. Thank God. So, get off your high horse and be more willing to listen to all sides, not just your own spew.

Agreed and well said, Lioness. And Ms Emily has the same right. It goes to the right to choose to read something or or display something or not. If you don't like it - don't read or post it. But do not begrudge someone the chance and opportunity to write or post it.

But I am always willing to listen to others opinions. I mean, they are all just like assholes. Every one has one and they all stink.
