It looks like the Phillies may be repeat as NL Pennant winners this year if this game is any indication. A no hitter in the playoffs? Damn damn impressive.

 

That's been done only one other time they said -- and that was a perfect game. Halladay missed it by only one batter. Incredible! Great game.

I think Phillies are going to take NL, although I'd love to see Bobby Cox win before he retires. In the AL, I'm not counting out the Rangers, because surprising things do happen. But at my core, I'm a Yankees fan.

It's a tremendous achievement, but it does only win one game. The Phillies don't want to get overconfident because they did such a fantastic job in game 1: they still need to do a good enough job in 10 more games to walk off with the title. I think they're a smart enough team to know that and guard against it.

It's a simple task to read about the history of baseball on Wikipedia. Of course, its not always correct, but it states that baseball was imported from England where rounders, stoolball and a variant of baseball were all very popular. I thought this was common knowledge.

And if you see my light-hearted ribaldry as trolling then I apologise if my apalling cheeky sense of humour upsets you so.
