I tried looking at back threads and couldn't find one about beers. So just wanted to know from all you beer drinkers your favorite domestics and imports. My favorite domestics would be Coors lite and Samuel Adams and MGD and my favorite imports would be Hieniken and St Pauli Girl. Also, what are some good beers to try.

 

I don't drink alcohol, really. The only beer I ever had was a Guiness, and that was while I was chewing on some mint gum. I thought it tasted pretty good.

 

Yes! Hieniken, dark. Something with some flavor.

All imo of course, and I only really enjoy lagers/pilseners:

I lived in Holland once.

Hieniken is almost a joke beer there. Like Toothy's or Fosters is thought of in Australia.

The only time I have enjoyed Hieniken was on hot days and having one straight from the tap in Holland when its VERY fresh and cold.

Holland's best beer is Grolsh (pronounced similar too 'Krolsh' ) but if you have it as an export its usually turned meadish in the bottle.

Belgium is the best country I have ever seen for beer. 100's of VERY good beers to choose from. The best being Stella Artoi, which was supposedly a Hungarian beer recipe that was sort of stolen by the Flemish.

In brazil, the best beer brand is Bohemia (although the one that is advertised the most is 'Antarctica', but its a draught and tastes like SHIT!)

And in Japan, I think nothing beats Saporo (onegeshimus!)

However.. and this is not out of ANY sense of loyalty to my own country..
The BEST beer I have EVER had is Australia's own:

Hahn Premium - a delicious, not to sweet, beer with a most amazing, bitter green note to the finish.

When I told friends in Holland about it, (not the 'lite') they said like.. "ok.. send us some".. when I got back here I found it would cost $700usd to send a carton.. so.. well.. I guess there wont be many foreign folk in here who may have tried it?

 

I used to like lager but swiftly moved on to ales/bitters. I find I can drink more of it without having a tummy full of gas and burping like a fool.

 

A very good point. Those dark German beers that are like 14% acl are supposed to sipped and enjoyed like a wine I'm told.

 

Domestics: Sam Adams, Amber Boch...

Imports: Guiness, Killians, New Castle and any other dark, brown, or amber beer...

I like wheat beers too...

Basic domestic I prefer Yuenling out of Pa.
I have a brew shop near me where I can purchase the ingredients and make your own. Have taken a liking to Black Adder Dunkel.

 

Jupiler is quite good, haven't tried other you mention but BE does have so many great beers as you say.. I used to go to Antwerp about once a month to the old center for a night out. What a great place for food and drink BE is.

When I lived in Leicester (English Midlands) I used to drink Everards Tiger or Beacon, local bitters.

Now I've moved south (or Sarf as they say down here!) I tend to go for London Pride or Spitfire.

There's a good Wetherspoons pub near me that do a lot of guest beers. The latest that I liked was called "Bitter and twisted". Very nice.

And now I've made out I'm some kind of real ale connoisseur I'll have to admit that I'm sipping on a bottle of Stella tonight. Proper European fighting lager!

 

By far my favorite Beer is BudLight, Although I do enjoy bud dry and busch light from time to time.


I never drink imports so I have no input there.
