My Son who is 18 has recently acquired 3 Tatoos because he can.

Being of an artistic bent, i don't mind him getting them, but they are horrible of design and quality.

and now he has them for the rest of his life!

Am I being a Fuddy Duddy?

It seems to me some sort of consultation should occur in this situation.

He just went out and did it. They are terrible! And! He is a walking talking advertisement for my Gene Pool, shallow as it may be!!!!

There have been several good threads regarding tatoos as I recall. Search them, maybe you will manage to see something good in his decision.

 

My eldest's gf has several, luckily she knows quality when she sees it. Son wants a tattoo of a Star Trek badge on his chest XD

I had a Horrible Tatoo of Vamperella on my upper arm... I spent 6 hours in a Tatoo parlor and me and the artist hashed out a cover up, that really looks nice and incorperated the least fucked up parts of the original tat, so All is not lost and if they are really stupid tats there is always laser removal.

 

There are a lot of kids(especially girls) my age, younger, and older who get horrible looking tats because they like them, not fully understanding that they're permanent. I've seen picachu(or however you spell that thing's name) and other anime/cartoon characters, disney characters, completely retarded tats(whether it be words or symbols), you name it.

These kids are going to really regret them later.

 

My son has several including a phoenix on the right side of his torso, all of his are good tats by good artists though.

I think out of all the bad tats I have seen the worst was a PD patient I was nursing who had an home done tat on his forehead.

The town he comes from in the Blackcountry conurbation. He got a little upset when I asked him if it was for when he got lost he could affix a postage stamp and mail himself home. Some fuckers have no sense of humour.

I love tattoos! I only have one myself though, and it is of great personal significance. It's the White Tree of Gondor on my upper back with "All that is gold does not glitter/Not all those who wander are lost" beneath in Tengwar. Nerdy, yes. But I won't bore you with the motivations behind it. :excited: They are deep and personal though, I assure you.

I'm definitely planning on getting more, but it took me about 5 years of deciding before I got this one done. I ended up going to the tattoo/piercing parlor that I had gotten my lip pierced for a consultation, and came back the following week to get it done by a wonderful artist. Definitely the most painful experience of my life, since piercings are pretty much a second of pain and that's it. Getting inked was 2 and a half hours of feeling like my skin was being scraped off. That being said, I'm going to do it again. I wouldn't get a design without a great deal of thought and planning. I also deliberately did not get my first tattoo on an easily visible part of my body, because I wanted it to be for me and only me. I never understood silly sorts of tattoos, but to each their own. My next tattoo might be very iconographic designs of the phases of the moon in a line across my lower back. We shall see!

 

He's 18 = nobodies fucking business, he's a big boy now.

On a different note he can get them removed later, it's not perfect but will look better than having a shitty ass tattoo on him.

i got the batman symbol tatooed on my shoulder when i was 18 my mum freaked 15 quid on that she screamed
you couldn't get a letter tatooed for 15 quid nowadays my niece paid £45 for a music symbol a few squiggly lines & 2 stars about 1 cm each

a friend of mine that has severall once told me ... "if U´re gonna tattoo something make sure it´s something important to ya, make sure it´s not a trend of some sort, or something that is fashionable at the time ... something important to you that U will wil love, stick by or defend for ever "
