i heard that if you have sex whilst tripping on extasy, having any sex thereafter would be always less fulfilling.

 

i have always found it amusing that we have the ability to let a chemical or a plant control our natural emotions and responses.

This has already been covered on another thread but I found sex to be heightened on marihuana, mushrooms and especially methamphetamine which is actually a true aphrodisiac. But I would not advocate sex, drugs and rock and roll to anyone that's just what worked for me.

 

Drugs haven't complimented sex since they stopped making Quaaludes

 

interesting thread, since i work with the chemically dependent in an intensive rehab facility. it has been my experience so far that while living for the moment might be great, the long term effects of mixing sex and drugs has far worse consequences that often last a lifetime.

 

I can see why you would have that perception, however, according the Bureau of Justice Statistics 110,000,000 have tried illegal drugs while according to WebMd there are an estimated 2,724,000 in drug rehabilitation. It should be fairly obvious that there are far more people who have tired drugs than there are people that get hooked on them. That is especially true when we consider the rehabilitation figures include people seeking treatment for alcoholism while the Justice Statistics reflect only illegal drug use.

 

experimentation is just a part of growing up; i agree there is a large majority of teens/young adults that just tryi it. but on the other hand when i see 20y/o come in testing postive for HIV, shooting up heroin, popping X and drinking themselves into a stupor, knowing they have no intention of 'getting clean', admitting that the only reason they are there is 'cause their parents[or some other authority] made them and when they get out they go right back into their old habits. i for one don't want one of my children end up 'experimenting' with one of these people and end up regretting it the rest of their lives. once high on drugs, there's not a lot of foresight to think about using protection; unfortunately it only takes just one moment to alter your life forever.

We should get on the Drugs Good or Bad thread if we're going to continue this discussion so I'll just add this. What you seem to be describing to me are mental and emotional problems inherent in self destructive behaviors and the drugs are just a symptom of that not the cause. But as far as using protection when having sex I'm all for that but that is true drugs or no drugs. So teaching caution and personal responsibility seems a lot better way to protect kids than abstinence in my view.

 

there was a report recently on the radio (i'm sorry i don't remember the program) that said that a very large number of people are having, and think its ok to have premarital sex. one of the biggest reasons it said for this is that people are getting married much later in life. this report also said the same as you stumbler, that abstinence isn't a "good" option for educating kids anymore about sex, because its just not likely to work. we would be much better off being open and honest with them about it and helping them prepare the best way that we can so they can make informed, mature decisions about when its the "right" time for them...

 

Thank you countrymama. I must admit maybe my wife and I just lucked out raising our kids (especially considering my youth and philosophy of life) but they turned out more than great. They turned out functional and happy. And here's what we taught them. Confidence, high self esteem, atonomy, input, responsibility, self reliance, friendship and love. I truely believe that worked a lot better than do as I say, or Just Say No.

i have an extreme catholic (but great and very loving) mother...so, no sex until married...it did nothing to stop me...just made me curious what all the taboo was about...i ended up preggo shortly after 18, and married at 19...i'm not regretting it...i have a wonderful husband and (now) 2 great kids...however, i plan on being very open with them and making sure they are comfortable talking to me about sex (eeekkk, hopefully not for a long time as they are only 2 and 5)...

I really liked fucking on acid when I was younger. The megalomaniacal sensations and insane visuals were almost priceless.
