OK, let me start off by saying the latest developments with Rush don't surprise me one bit. Rush is a babbling wind bag, and this isn't the first time he has done something like this.

I think this birth control issue is way over blown. I have no problem with the government providing free birth control to women who want it. Hell, I think it should be mandatory for some (but that's another argument for another time).

What I think is funny is the fact the left will have no part in any kind of debate on the subject. They all have the Obama drone mentality.

You know, if Obama says so, we must make it law, NO QUESTIONS ASKED mentality.

 

If you've read any of what I've written here about Obama, you know that isn't true. My disagreements with Obama have been very well-documented. It's only Republican insanity that keeps me solidly in his camp.

 

Personally, I think that big phallic microphone stuck in his face every day sent him around the bend.

I don't think the conservative/Republican/Tea Party realizes even yet what kind of firestorm they've kicked off here. Because its getting more serious by the day.

Virginia Police Arrest 31 At Women’s Rights Demonstration | Police arrested 17 women and 14 men at a march outside of the Virginia Capitol while officers in riot gear held the hundreds of demonstrators back with shields. The crowd was protesting the Virginia General Assembly’s approval of a controversial bill on Thursday to require women to receive ultrasounds before abortions. The 31 people arrested had locked arms and refused to leave the Capitol steps. Del. Delores L. McQuinn (D) said there had been an “overabundance” of police at recent women’s rights protests — she had “never seen a similar police presence when guns rights advocates assemble on Capitol Square.” McQuinn described the arrests as “the latest example of government overreach that we’ve seen in recent weeks.”

It was pretty much Pelosi and a few other Democratic women who allowed Fluke to testify in a separate hearing which is what Rush jumped on and they turned into a steam rolling political issue in less than 72 hours. And in the meantime all the conservative/Republican/Tea Baggers in congress and on the campaign trail could do is back up, condemn, and distance themselves from Limbaugh.

Now that's what you call controlling the debate.

I'm watching Eric Cantor try to sell the argument that this is a religious freedom issue not a women's health care issue or contraception issue and maybe its just be but I'm not believing a word of it.

 

Ah yes, many reasons to take birth control pills. To control all sorts of non sex related conditions. Sure, I understand that. The debate however was the cost of birth control for SEXUALLY ACTIVE WOMEN. It wasn't birth control for MEDICAL CONDITIONS NOT RELATED TO SEXUAL ACTIVITY. (Nice try at diversion though)

I congratulate women who have taken responsibility for their actions. I applaud anyone who accepts responsibility for their actions. However, when one group asks another group to pay so they can be responsible for their OPTIONAL actions, then that isn't being very responsible is it?

Kind of like if I ask the government to pay for my Viagra, cause you know, it's a health issue for me, and there are many reasons why I might take Viagra that have nothing to do with sex.

See, when you ask government to pay for this kind of stuff, it isn't even welfare, it's a "GIMMEE". And it is like hell a private insurance policy. If it was, everyone would be yelling at the insurance companies, not in congressional hearings. (again though, nice attempt to divert)

And why the hell would you want anyone to pay for your birth control?? Aren't you afraid some right wing whack job will get into office after this thing passes, and they'll require some kind of evidence that you are using birth control as intended? You know, like seeing videos or certified statements about your sex life?

Do we REALLY need this? Shooter thinks not. And just so you know, if or when I need Viagra I'll go buy it myself if my insurance doesn't cover it. I have to much self respect and independence to ever even think of asking the Government to pay for it, much less the embarrassment I'd feel announcing in a public forum that I discovered sex to be to expensive for my taste.
