I ask because pictures of gun arsenals appearing here for no apparent reason is a bit confusing. I own one. So what?

That is the real point, Claxton. "Liberals" (as morons who do not know what 'liberal' even means) in the main do not want to ignore or get rid of the Second Amendment, but rather take a CONSERVATIVE interpretation of it. Guns for hunting should be perfectly legal (as long as there is a license required to have said gun, and the licensing process requires both a class in the proper handling and use of firearms AND a basic psychological test to determine whether or not the applicant is a homicidal maniac).

Also, there is no need for automatic weapons, missile launchers, etc. in hunting, unless the alleged hunter wants to wipe out entire herds of animals in one swoop.

 

What I think (and many others feel) will happen now that there was a shooting in AZ. That the gun lobby nuts will take this past the point that it should.

There are laws on the books for people to buy and own a gun, lets see if they take a look at that and see what failed.

As for a permit, I am not for that. That is the first step to the Government knowing who, what and where to look for the guns people own.

The second amendment gives us the right to own guns. So what if people what assault weapons. Was that used in this shooting?? Nope. But I bet dimes to dollars that that is what we will hear that they want to ban.

I will not disclose what and amount of weapons I own that is my right. And the way the government is going (at taking rights away) this is what gun owners are afraid of.

How about we go after the criminals that have guns We do not need more laws. I have a friend that is on the job in NY he brought in an armed robber. The DA asked did he have a gun?? Yes OK Was the gun loaded?? Again Yes. (it was an automatic) OK was a round in the chamber?? NO well then we will just throw out that gun charge. That is a mandatory 3 years and yet they threw it out.
SO why don't we in-force the laws on the books. The gun lobby is so interested in removing guns from law abiding citizens that they will allow criminals to have them.

All I know is I will NEVER give up my weapons. I was in the military and know how to handle them and use them in a safe manner, unless someone breaks into my house then I will shoot to kill.

 

Exactly. I suppose the other way of thinking is why we have enough nukes to destroy the world 650 times over. "Just in case". I don't want to limit your right to have a 50 caliber assault rifle, I want to limit your right to having it for no conceivable reason besides being prepared for "when them commies invade" or something equally foolish. Is someone who is paranoid enough to purchase an assault rifle really of sound mind to own it?

 

In fact, a great many Liberals (like me) own handguns and keep them where they will do the most good while being safest. Mine is loaded, in my home and in an electronic gun safe under my bed. I can get it in about two seconds. No one else can.

I don't carry it to political rallies (even though I'm in Arizona) or to shopping malls or fast food restaurants.

With the excersize of the 2nd Amendment comes the responsibility to excersize self control and good judgment. Do so and no one will ever have cause to threaten your ownership rights.

Not that anyone, anywhere of any responsibility is.

With guns there are two kinds of people, those who like them and those who dont. Even with the best laws there will always be those who break them. IF someone truly wants to have a gun in his/her possesion, he/she will get one. We can only hope that the incident that happened with the congresswoman, will not happen often, and that we ourselves are never caught in that situatiion, or any other that invovolves a fucking asshole with a gun.............may that person die a slow and painfull death.........
