  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

I agree with your points pretty much but I think we have other things much more important to teach than gun safety at this point, sex ed for example. They could even shoot for the stars and try to get our nation more competitive in math, science, and the like.

I never have understood carrying a loaded gun myself. A lot of ccw's do it because it takes less steps to remove the safety and fire a loaded gun than to load the chamber in the event of being attacked but it scares me to death to have everything i've ever worked for (liability wise) depending on a small piece of metal. Some guns have a very fail safe safety but others don't. I've had a couple times where my gun or others guns have went off just from the butt being set on the ground. Luckily they were always pointed up or down and away from people.

I think a lot of ccw permit holders have this sort of warzone fabricated in their minds to where they do not feel safe unless they have a loaded weapon with them at all times.

While I tend to agree with you in some areas I think gun safety would be a paramount class. But instead of people opposing them we have a hard time finding enough volunteers to teach them.

And another problem is that the semi automatic guns of today are double dangerous because they are double action. In other words you pull that trigger and it fires. I'm pretty sure that's what that kid had in his backpack.

It appears that the NRA is more than willing to provide experts to train students in gun safety.

But in the few cases that I read about the anti-gun folks protested on the grounds that the NRA would be too pro-gun biased.

You can tell that from Tennessee can you tenguy?

And if I was going to protest anything about guns it would be the NRA. I can't believe how many fools actually believe the NRA has anything to do with gun rights.

That is a good point, double action guns do change the game up quite a bit. My first gun was a double action rifle, an sks so that's why i'm so cautious. I grew up in the boondocks where all the farmers hunted but we struggled to find anyone with time to teach. I actually use to teach our hunters safety class along with the sheriff (he was my scoutmaster) and one other guy every year. I taught it from the time I was 14 to 17.

I consider myself more or less a die hard gun guy that just doesn't have the money to buy any at the moment but you won't find me claiming any association with the nra. Gives rational gun owners a bad name in a lot of cases.

To tell the truth my grandmother taught me how to handle a gun and taught me to shoot. By the time I was 12 it was out the door with my .22 no questions asked.

But damn man the first thing I was taught was that guns are death. And once that trigger was pulled there is no taking it back on purpose or on accident. To me they were more like a tool. A deadly tool that can only be used for certain things, at certain times, and the first thing is is it safe before you even load it.

And let me throw this in. In some debate I was reading I guy kept yelling at the other guy; you blame gun laws instead of the shooter in Tucson? And the other guy said. "No I blame the shooter for the first ten shots. I blame our guns laws for the next 20."

Same here, I started using my birthday money to buy calves when I was around 12 and I had to use a gun when the wild dogs got in the herd and tried to run them. There wasn't any tomfoolery allowed either.

Perfect response on the gun laws, I feel the same way. I have an sks with a 40 round magazine and anyone who has fired a semi auto c/r military rifle knows it's not an "assault rifle" and has major rate of fire limitations. I would even be fine with it if they put a limit of 20 round mags or so because a 40 round is worthless (in legal situations) other than to occasionally blow off some steam at the range.

On the other hand I want to get a license for class III weapons eventually, just because I would love to be able to collect a few older military machine guns, but I don't by any means want that license to be given out to everyone. I think it should be hard to obtain overly dangerous weapons and we need restrictions on weapons.

In almost all cases I believe that "guns don't kill people, people kill people" but we need to limit what those people can do. School/work shootings would happen all the time if any looney could run down to the gun store and buy a full auto ak47 with 50 round mags.

gun rights is such a funny topic because it involves ignorant rednecks arguing against over educated old money bi-sexual and oddly enough neither side is correct.

What about the National Rifle Association, with it's 4.3 million members, which is a drop in the bucket compared to registered Republicans or Democrats.

The mission statement of the NRA is:
Do you see something divisive in it?

You're a fucking old fool tenguy. While you were running your mouth I was belatedly checking after carelessly opening my mouth and was shocked to see how many democrats have received NRA endorsements.

But too late now you old pisser.

Nope. I fucked up and admit it.

The NRA is still predominately a Republican ally and while they've endorsed some democrats since I checked last the NRA is lying about being non-partisan in elections where both candidates are strong second amendment supporters. That's why I tore up my life membership and sent it back to the NRA 30 years ago. The NRA consistently endorsed Republicans over democrats in my state even though they were equally strong on gun rights and life members of the NRA themselves.

And while I spoke before I checked on democratic endorsements I still stand by my general belief that the primary function of the NRA is getting Republicans elected.

    Cool or what?

Yes, after I edited I saw your response.

But, that has nothing to do with your misconceived notion that the NRA does not support the Democrats.
