  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

Like I said the more the Wisconsin democrats hold out the bigger heroes they are because the longer they hold out the more stuff has time to come out.

Such as something you'll also find with leading "cut all the government spending" republicans like Michelle Bachmann who want government spending cut for everyone else while they rake in thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars of government farm subsidies just like the Wisconsin Republicans do.

    No, and I love it.;)

And you don't have to go much further than that to find fools who support them because they tell them what they want to hear.

and pisst where are they? NPR got busted on a conservative undercover sting.

PS Damn, I missed the one where he tried to set the CNN reporter up on a boat with a boat load of sex toys. I wonder what that was trying to expose.

Industries Find Surging Profits in Deeper Cuts

I define wealth as money in the bank, stocks, bonds, and property that produces income. How do you define wealth? Is wealth created by the following process, or is it being redistributed upward?

    --------

The New York Times by Nelson D. Schwartz, July 25, 2010

By most measures, Harley-Davidson has been having a rough ride.

Motorcycle sales are falling in 2010, as they have for each of the last three years. The company does not expect a turnaround anytime soon. But despite that drought, Harley’s profits are rising — soaring, in fact. Last week, Harley reported a $71 million profit in the second quarter, more than triple what it earned a year ago.

This seeming contradiction — falling sales and rising profits — is one reason the mood on Wall Street is so much more buoyant than in households, where pessimism runs deep and joblessness shows few signs of easing.

Many companies are focusing on cost-cutting to keep profits growing, but the benefits are mostly going to shareholders instead of the broader economy, as management conserves cash rather than bolstering hiring and production. Harley, for example, has announced plans to cut 1,400 to 1,600 more jobs by the end of next year. That is on top of 2,000 job cuts last year — more than a fifth of its work force.

stumbler is one of the best informed posters here. I acknowledge that, even though he dislikes me.

You in turn, tenguy sometimes approach the debate performance of ElCasanova.

Wealth is the accumulated worth of all tangible assets, less the cost lost to liquidate them.

The example that you used above, Harley Davidson, is not a good illustration of trading wealth for jobs. There is no logical reason to build production, if the demand for the end product is weak. If the economy was stronger, diversification might be a route for HD to take, however the board elected not to do that.

Spending the money for the preservation of jobs brings virtually nothing to increasing the wealth of anyone. On the other hand, providing dividends to the investors does offer a better opportunity to increase wealth as the investor will likely invest in other businesses that are producing jobs.

This is exactly how the capitalism works, people investing in endeavors that produce a profit for the investor. The effort to produce a profit employs workers in that business and in the businesses that support it. Creating even more opportunity to expand the wealth of the community.

    Pretty simple stuff.

The problem here is that tenguy is talking about a theoretical, idealized form of capitalism that exists only in his mind, and DL is talking about actual capitalism as it is practiced in the United States.

Good thinking, but it is wrong thinking.

The vast majority of the corporations act in the mode of true capitalism, the problem is those who do not taint the mix.

What DL described Harley actions to be, is an example of how it really works. Return the money to the investor, so he can reinvest in an active business.

The government would rather act to preserve jobs that will not exist, than to face the facts that these people will need to find work elsewhere. They will need training for new technologies, they will need a business environment that creates expansion, rather than one that encourages shrinking the exposure.

And what cracks me up every time is people claiming that's not the way its always been or not what the founders of this nation intended.

Bullshit. The main reason they pitched the Articles of Confederation and wrote the constitution is because commerce had nearly ground to a halt because of the greed and resentments of the states.

So the first true liberals in the world sat down and invented the first secular federal government to facilitate commerce and trade. And about the next thing the new federal government did was establish a network of hospitals for merchant seamen because the new nation needed seamen to get their products to the rest of the world.

I guess that I'm most frustrated at why people feel they have a right to any opinion on what anyone else's income is - including executives! They're executives for a reason, just like us "real" workers.

I have learned so much about unions since the WI WTF?!!!!!! and I don't believe anyone should be paid to do nothing. Ridiculous!!!!!!! Any why should taxpayers pay for teachers OR anyone who doesn't go to work. I will never be able to agree to this mentality. Also, my opinion of teachers is nothing like it was a month ago.

The protesters make me ill and the destruction they did to their own building will cost about $7,500. Unbelievable destruction and extremely sad.

Those "leaders" who skipped town to avoid voting should go directly to jail, be fined, and be removed from office.

Yes. The unions, are in fact, the real villain here. They seek and destory every company they can and seem to thrive on it.

The auto OR any industry simply cannot afford to pay $75 an hour, plus all the other union gimmes, to someone working on the production line! Why should they? The scope of work one does should be directly related to income earned.
