The 14 Democratic Senators are supposed to march back to the capitol building today in protest of the union busting bill.

Now, though I've found a live feed from the Madison Wisconsin protests, but its a pretty crappy feed even they admit because there are so many people already assembling they are having getting and holding a signal from the protests.

None, the less its pretty interesting and there is an awful lot on the line for everyone concerned. But I would say if the tens of thousands of people or more actually show up to protest the Wisconsin Republicans and Governor Walker are in trouble.

This is actually shocking to me because out where I live the farmers and ranchers are among the most staunchly conservative people in the nation.

And I don't know about Wisconsin but out where I live the farmers and ranchers are one of the most feared political demographics there is because they are second only to senior citizens when it comes to voting as one block.

Wis. rammed through devastating legislation that strips public employees of there bargaining rights.

Termed the "nuclear option," Gov Walker and his Senate removed the financial components of the unpopular budget bill, which allowed them to get around the rule of needing 20 Senators to vote on a fiscal matter. They hadn't had that number since the foruteeen Senate Dem. left the state three weeks ago in order to block a vote.

The vote was 18-1. Only Republicans voted, with Senator Schultz (R) being the only single no vote.

 

There is tens of thousands of protesters stomping round the capitol right now and the 14 Democrats who fled the state to try and block the union busting returned to a heroes welcome.

Recall petitions have already been started for all Republican Senators who are eligible under Wisconsin law and a major effort is said to be underway to begin recalling Scott Walker as governor when he becomes eligible for recall at the end of the year.

 

That is great, maybe there will be a silver lining in it if we can get Wis. back to a blue state!! :excited::excited: I am glad they recieved a hero's welcome!! I think what they did took courage!!

 

Yep and a few NEWS hounds have said that this could come back to bite the Republicans in the next Presidential Elections too.

 

Missed the buss

I was late to the pick up point and there is no place to park so driving was out of question. Just talked we friend that is there. The word is 200,000 + at the capital.
They are trying to recall the 14 so now it is a contest to see who can recall the most first.
There is a big election coming up April 4 for supreme court and the Walker buddy Prosser is looking scared. Then the Walker repug buddy Stone for Milwaukee Ex. is also looking a little upset.
Walker has kicked the hornet nest and now he and his tea baggers are going to get stung.
Trouble is I think a some of tea baggers are union people that are not to sharp and do not read much and therefore got suckered in by the Koch crowd with the on line simple solutions that they could understand.
I hope they have come around and will help defeat them and fight the rich greedy Koch and crew.

 

And here's another rather stunning fact that has come out of the protests in Wisconsin. Which is Micheal Moore's claim that the wealthiest 400 Americans have more wealth than the bottom 50% of Americans combined.

I mean I had to wonder myself if that could actually be true but Politifact checked it and confirmed the claim was true even if it took some pretty fancy mathematics to arrive at it.

Thanks for the update. I swear there's almost a news blackout about the Wisconsin protests because I haven't seen a report on CNN all day yet.

But I'm glad to see people turning out in force and I agree I think the Koch brothers bit off more than they could chew and the Republican/Tea Baggers the slipped into power will soon be headed back out.

And I think you are so right about many of the Tea Party members. They like the simple solutions and slogans and having their hate and anger buttons pushed and don't realize they're being played and manipulated by wealthy people like the Koch brothers and Fox News.

You see that brainwashed foolishness around here all the time.

 

The Kock connection started to play out more when they went after the health care too. I think I read somewhere that the along with the collective barganing they are going to increase the cost for the health insurance, the premiums and reduce the coverage.

You've got that right and again there are so many people in the Tea Party that think they're part of some grass roots organization instead of a political front created by Glenn Beck and Fox News and funded by the Koch Brothers.

And I just stumbled on this a minute ago. There's lots of conservative/Republican/Tea Baggers who have decried the Wisconsin Democrats leaving the state but did you know Abraham Lincoln once jumped out a second story window to stop a vote in the Illinois legislature in 1840?

This protest has been going on for 27 days straight. Let's see some real proof of anything except the residents of Wisconsin exercising their constitutional rights. A few scattered pictures being pimped by the lying right wing noise machine for brainwashed fools really don't mean shit compared to the hundreds of thousands of people that are protesting in Wisconsin.
