I am seriously down in the dumps, folks. Apparently SEMO (university in my town to whom I have sent repeated resume/cover letters for various administrative assistant positions) is holding out for applicants who already know the computer system they use (which means, they are looking to hire internally). The one time I actually have a connection somewhere, it doesn't even matter.

Whomever/Whatever keeps dangling my dreams right out of reach then yanking it away entirely needs to just fucking stop right now. I'm nearly 30 years old, dammit...I need to catch a break already! :'-(

 

Sorry to hear that. I know that something like that can be a huge downer but you can't give up. All this just means is this place isn't for you, but there are others that will be.

The other thing to do is find out what that software program is and do some research on it and figure out if there is a way for you to learn it on your own for free or for a low cost. Then the next time it comes up you can say that you are.

Either way keep your head up. Your time will come

 

Thanks dearie. No, I can't learn the system because it's only used by SEMO. The bf works there, but his department uses an entirely different system, so he can't even help me with that. Oh, and here's the icing on the cake of suck--he'd get reprimanded if he tries to talk to HR about considering me for hire (i.e., "putting in a good word") because "that's not how it's done here." So yeah. *Sigh* I had a huge breakdown last night over this b/c that was my last resort. That was the only place in town I had any chances at all of getting at least an interview. I even branched out and looked for opportunities elsewhere in the state. The only one available is in a tiny ass town all the way in the northwestern part of the state (I'm in the southwestern part) in the middle of absolutely nowhere. I'd be tee-totally miserable there. I also looked in the town I'm wanting to someday live (Burlington, VT) and there's nothing there either. Everyone wants experience, but I can't get that if no one gives me a chance.

What an ignoramus! First of all, you are far from being ugly, I don't want to hear that word from you. No, you are a sweet and erotic woman. Obviously your bf can't see that, or he doesn't want to see that, I don't know why.

Here's what I would have done: I would have told you to keep the mini burgers warm, because I want the dessert first. Then I would have moved you to the couch or to the livingroom floor to fuck your brains out. Afterwards we eat, and then we'd have new energy for the next session...

Now that sucks big time, I'm so sorry for you! Reminds me of quite a few experiences I've had, though the answer I got most of the time was "We're sorry Sir, but you're overqualified. All the best!" - in other words, I'm too old and too expensive.

Fuck, what can I tell you to make you feel better? The usual "Cheer up!" is not enough of course. I'll think about it.

Of course, you are correct as always. The best part of you is your mind and brain. It is hard to take those pictures though. (Leonard's Mother did want to MRI Sheldon's brain in Big Bang, though.)

 

Luckily for me, the bf isn't NEARLY as clueless as Sheldon is about how things work...but he still has a lot to work on.

 

I totally forgot to post a pic of the tree once I put more ornaments on it! I still don't have one yet of the fully finished product, but I really don't feel like plugging the lights in just to take a picture...so that'll just have to wait until later. I also am posting a pic of the stockings now that they're filled.

 

Today was the holiday gathering for Father's side of the family. It's the only gathering we have to get spiffed up for. I clean up pretty nice, I guess lol.
