They're perfect, sweetie, thank you! No, I'm not a GT fan (haven't even seen it, so can't honestly be a fan lol), but I AM a fan of the memes that come from that show that are popular on Reddit, Memebase, and 4 Chan.

 

Friend and neighbor of mom's parents passed on earlier this year. Mom's sister bought his house shortly after that, and her son moved in. Some of the original furniture and decor were/are still in the home. When visiting him at Christmas I saw this painting and immediately fell in love with it. It's not what one would deem "beautiful" but it drew me in. That's all it takes for me to fall in love with a piece of artwork.

P.S. I apologize for the low lighting. Got a glare when I turned the ceiling light on. :-\

I recommend both the TV show and the books. Recently I got myself a copy of the UK six-volume edition of "A Song of Ice and Fire", 5232 pages, see below. The TV show is great, the books are better in a way of course, but HBO and all the people involved are doing a great job. George R.R. Martin himself supports the show.

 

Not really my kind of read, but my tastes may change with time. I appreciate the input, though. It's nice to converse with someone who enjoys reading. It's a refreshing change from the ignorami around here.

 

Well, I'm the son of a bookseller, I grew up with books everywhere around me, I've learned that profession some 30 years ago, and I've been working as a bookseller for many years, both in my father's store and self-employed.

IMO Martin's "Song of..." is one of a few or maybe even the only epic fantasy saga that is comparable to Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" etc. The world he has created is comparable to Middle-earth. The difference is that Martin's books include sex and more violance.

 

... and more violence. Damn typo!

 

That genre tends to be a bit too serious for my liking, although I do enjoy the LOTR films (tried reading the trilogy and couldn't get past page 52). I'm a Harry Potter-type gal. Equal balance of humour, light-heartedness, action, and romance. The movies, however, were a bit darker than the books, but still quite enjoyable. I'm def an HP nut lol.

 

Well, folks, this is the last picture post of this thread. I'd have waited until I was all dolled up before taking a picture (it IS a special occasion, after all), but considering that I'm stuck at home tonight, it would be a waste of time, effort, clean clothes, and make up. Yes, boyos, I'll be ringing in the new year sitting on the couch listening to ol' dood and his friends fight zombies. The only friends I have that would be willing to take pity on my broke ass and get me out of here are the friends that live too far away for it to even matter. Needless to say, I'm going to start off the new year bored, angry, frustrated, and feeling unwanted/unloved. *le sigh*
