As many members know I've always maintained there are a lot of jobs that are more dangerous than being a law enforcement officer.

That being said, CNN is reporting that 10 law enforcement officers have been shot in the past 24 hours. And actually for the past 2 or 3 weeks it seems to me I've heard more reports of law enforcement officers being wounded or killed than I think I've ever seen. It seems like a daily occurrence and there's been at least one day when officers were killed in different parts of the country.

I'll try to find some links to some of these shootings or try to find some numbers. But the reason I put this up now is because I'm wondering what's going here. Is this just some short lived flash of violence or are we seeing the evidence of much more desperate and violent criminals?

That is truly shocking news, Stumbler. Unfortunately, with a culture that glorifies the gun as America does, this sort of thing is bound to happen every now and then. Control the sale of guns and the number of incidents of death-by-firearm reduces proportionately.

Until the ordinary American citizen (as opposed the self-serving gun lobby) stands up and refuses to allow the daily slaughter of innocents and Police Officers going about their duty, this is a situation that will never end.

How many cops of those numbers stated were shot by black guys?

I was unable to find stumbler's CNN article. A quick look on the internet found five stories about cop killers. All of the suspects were black.

Well DL I guess people can jump my ass also cause I figured it to be around 7 out of 10.....however I think some of the Latino gangs maybe cutting into the percentages these days....

Nope no research from me just a guess from watching the news for 40 years....

 

Keep in mind that I was unable to find the CNN story stumbler was referring to. For all I know, each of the ten police officers may have been murdered by Ashkenazic Jews, but I doubt it.

When you use your police force as a weapon to keep a minority in its place. To victimise and harrass..is it any wonder they end up getting shot?

 

One incident was in Port Orchard, Washington at a Wal Mart. One was in Detroit, I believe and I can't remember where the 3rd incident happened but they've been on the news and Yahoo news.

That 200 number is deceiving, the deaths of police officers by firearms was 59 in 2010, not 200.


The total deaths of officers in the line of duty were 160, of those 73 were traffic related.

No number of deaths to police officers is low enough, 0 would be great.
