UPDATE: CNN/Headline News is not reporting its 11 officers shot and two officer killed in the past 24 hours.

But I stress again this seems to me to be a continuation of a rash of law enforcement officers being shot and killed in the past two or three weeks.

At this moment it seems that you are grasping at straws again, to make some obscure point that needs to have hype generated to make it a topic of urgency.

There are over 700,000 sworn officers in the US, last year 160 were killed, 59 by gunshot. If 1/100 of 1 percent were killed by gunshot it would still be more than were killed by that means last year. The rate was about 1 in 10,000, does that look like an alarming number?

No one wants to see anyone killed, particularly those sworn to enforce our laws, but guess what, that occupation has risks, risks mean casualties. Why do you go all bonkers when those casualties are less than those who die in work related incidents in your field.

 

one of those officers shot was here in indy and i know him and his family he was shot 4 times including twice in the face. he is currently in grave condition...the story can be found at the indy channel dot com.

 

That is tough, I wish him a complete and speedy recovery. He and his family need our prayers and support.

I just read that article, plus the one on his fathers view and the arrest of a person of interest.

Wow, both his Mom and Dad are officers as well.

the police officer in indy is brain dead we was told this by the doctors today they are keeping him alive so his orgens can be donated, after knowing him and his family his father asked that this can be done. i am extreamly sad about this.

tomorrow I will put My uniform on strap on my duty belt and h hope to come home that night.I have read some of the comments on this and I am truly saddened. As one that still wears the Uniform and tries to help people. I have only been shot twice. Not by law abiding citizens but by criminals.
I've been cut and stabbed. Again by criminals. All while putting My life on the line to hopefully make yours safer.
As I said I am saddened that some of you wish that more of us were killed.

i would just like to add that the officer in indy died wed morning a little after 6 am,
now to gun control i have said this before that guns dont kill it is the person behind the gun that kills i have had a gun sitting on a table next to me for over 30 years and as long as it sits on the table it has not killed anyone it is only after someone picks it up with the intent of useing it that it can kill someone so for all those wanting "gun control" i got to say if you have a gun it will never kill someone till someone who plans on useing it picks it up.

 

When people are desperate... people do desperate things If only we had more shovel ready jobs then we could have some shovel related deaths... rather than people doing criminal things to make them shoot at police officers whom I have very little respect for most of the time, I think they are abusive.
