  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

A question for the 6 nation fans.

Why do they call it 6 nations, when only 3 1/2 countries compete in it? (UK, France, Italy and a 1/2 for Ireland)

Why do they call it the "European Championship", when only 3 1/2 out of 50 European countries compete in it?

Sorry dear boy, but the United Kingdom of Great Britain is a political unitary state comprising four countries; England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, so four teams participate.

The Irish team unites the divided island as players are selected from both North and South.

And all of them have lovely legs and bums. :-~:excited:

Why does the UN list only one nation, the UK? I gave you credit for 1/2 a country with the Ireland entrant.

But it still doesn't answer the question of why it is called the European championship?

Turn about is fair play, as they say.

    Part one answered.

Part two. Because the Twats from the rest of Europe are stuck playing ROUND ball games,Because they are only good at acting, and not good at physcal sports.

Bring on the world Cup. Australia to win.

Fair point, but I don't think anyone from the rest of Europe bothers to enter.
There was talk of (the definately non-European) Argentina joining either the 6, or the Southern Hemisphere Tri-Nations, but that doesn't seem to have progressed.

    LOL :excited:

Isn't there one of the obscure Eastern European countries that play? Romania or somewhere?

Well, if you are doing a "World series" thing, as I suspect, it would be for the same reasons ie. the teams are the only ones in Europe that can win it.

Sometimes people can get misled by ignorance, what I mean by that is any true sportsmen/women would know that the Baseball World series was originally intended to be a Global event and teams from other countries were invited, they weren't good enough to compete and the name stuck which is fair enough.

I do see that (antagonistic/trolling) people accuse Americans of thinking that they ARE the World and I am disappointed that someone like you can't see through that ignorance.

Ehhh that would make The Tri-Nations the Quad-Nations. I dont think anyone from RSA, NZ or Australia would appreciate that at all.

It's called the 6 nations because six nations compete for the championship. England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy.
The UK is by dint of it's title 3 separate countries united into one kingdom. Northern Ireland is not in the UK so any player from there is eligible to play for Eire.

It is not the European championship that is football, but it is the most important annual international competition of rugby in the northern hemisphere

Isn't the USA a federation of 50 countries or states represented by a federal government. So is the UK 4 countries united for political reasons.

Oh and Romania have a fairly decent RU.

They used to have a very decent RU; the strongest team outside the traditional five nations in Europe, much stronger than Italy. The collapse of communism has rather ruined them, but they still enter the Rugby World Cup.

Spain, Portugal and Georgia were also at the last Rugby World Cup, but they were pretty pathetic.

Nobody, to my knowledge, actually calls the Six Nations tournament a European championship; on the other hand, since no team outside of those six could possibly win a European championship, the winners of it will, quite reasonably, consider themselves the best team in Europe for that season.

Yes the US is a federation of 50 states, but we do not claim them to be separate countries. When the US competes at the Olympic games, we go as one country, not 50.

What about the UK? Don't you go as one?

    Wiki is wrong.

As to your earlier question yes we enter the Olympics as Great Britain, but we are still individual countries.

England is a seperate country to Wales and Scotland, as are they to England.

Great Britain is made up of England, Scotland and Wales. But not Northern Ireland. However in some sporting competitions Northern Ireland take part as members of Great Britain, but technically, they are not part of Britain.

The UK (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) is, as the name suggests, made up of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The UK is technically not a country, it is a sovereign state, governed under a constitutional monarchy, of which Great Britain is a sub division. Scotland has its own parliament where it can make some of its own laws, however it is still controlled by the UK parliament in London.

The teams that compete against each other in the six nations are; England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. Hence the six nations competition.

Republic of Ireland is completely unrelated to the UK other than they are also members of the EU, and that the UK and Ireland share a border where passports do not need to be shown.

Hope this clears things up :)

Essentially Wales and NI have their own governments too, but they don't really do anything. Unlike other UK countries England has no devolved executive or legislature and are governed by Parliament in London, Ultimately they are all controlled by the UK parliament in London

At the Olympics, yes. At the Commonwealth Games, and in football and rugby tournaments, no.

The UK is a country that's made up of four distinct countries, which does lead to confusion. For some purposes those countries do their own thing, and for others they combine.
