  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

Ironically, several sites reported the same thing, with twists. Apparently there was a European championship before the "Nations" competition was formed. Many still think of the champion as the European champs, although I could find no official claim of such.
This is basically the same as the federation of the US states, each state has sovereignty, with legislative, executive and justice branches of government, the federal government is responsible for the matter that effect all states, while each state handles the matters unique to it.

It seems to be a matter of semantics, technically our states are countries, our national mindset is that we are but one country.

This could easily explain why people of the UK have some difficulty understanding our nationalism. Whereas we have difficulty understanding the apparent lack of nationalism in the UK. As I understand it, Scotland and Wales are itching for a even more a break from the UK in many matters.

tenguy....again you argue on a political forefront, as you turn almost all the threads you look at into. Take it for what it is. The 6 Nations Rugby tournament is that. The 6 Nations Rugby tournament. Theres no ifs and there is no buts. Each nation is competing as they ought to be. As a nation. Each nation takes on another nation in a over various rounds leading to one essential winner.

The world series is not a world series???? So why call it a world series? Just like the Superbowl is not a international event. But i clearly remember the commentators saying "Greenbay are the WORLD CHAMPIONS" So if it is or if it isnt the eventual outcome that the winner of the 6 Nations tourny is crowned European Champions... well hell...whats its matter?? On Americas logic of a World series and world champions......The winner of the 6 Nations IS THE EUROPEAN champion.

But meh....you can never sway an old timer.

And....Rugby belongs in the southern hemisphere ;)

It is not my intention to make it a political slugfest, it is my intention to learn through discussion.

Whether some champion is crowned the world, European, US, Canadian or Australian champion, is purely up to the promoter of the contest.

Since I have not previously questioned the legitimacy of what the titles of Rugby, Football (soccer) or any other national or international competition are called, I challenge your claim that I turned this discussion into anything but one of inquiry.

However, since you and many others from outside the US, have chimed in with complains and insults, on the World Series and the mistaken idea of what the Super Bowl champs are officially called, I see no foul in my inquiry on the 6 Nation Rugby assumptions.

In fact, there has never been a proper European championship in rugby union. It would be pointless; only six countries have a professional league worth speaking of, and everyone else would be in the position of a European baseball team competing against a professional MLB side in competition. Even Italy have never beaten England, Ireland or France, and have beaten Wales only once in their entire history. Any other country allowed to enter would merely get beaten 50-0 or worse, six times out of six.

The original RU tournament was simply called the "Home Nations Championship" and only England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland competed. This was before Ireland became independent and Ulster split away from it, so the confusion of Irish participation did not originally arise.

When France joined the tournament in 1910 (having unofficially taken part for three or four years, by playing tests against the four Home Nations during the period of the competition), the French always referred to it as the "Five Nations" but the name wasn't officially adopted for almost sixty years. Quite possibly some in the UK were referring to it as a European championship, but if they were they shouldn't have been.

When Italy joined in 2000, it inevitably became the "Six Nations."

im not mistaken on the terms used in and during the Superbowl and the World series. They blatently said 'World Champions' so i was argueing for the sake of the 6 Nations team having the right to be called European Champions.

The 6 nations is purely that 6 nations competing for an annual championship. Also later this year there will be the World Cup of Rugby, involving any national team that wishes to compete, so the US will be attending.

Football has a European Championship involving all members of UEFA run on similar lines to FIFAs World Cup.

Folk may claim that the winners of the ^ nations are the de facto European Champs, but it is unofficial.

Oh and to Warroo the Webb Ellis is coming home this year.:p

Show me the professional teams which play NFL football and are not part of the NFL...

As for baseball, the first world baseball champions were Great Britain, in 1938. The title is currently held by the USA. The World Series is a different matter entirely.

There was the failed European league a few years back.

Strangely the NFL play a match at Wembley every year, trying to expand interest I guess.

The WLAF acronym was a source of many laughs in the US, for many NFL fans thought it was a joke. After 1997, the NFL Europe (later to become NFL Europa) actually had a fair following in the US and moderate fan support in Europe. It was a spring league vs. the traditional NFL fall schedule.

The international games played by NFL teams have had moderate success in fan developing interest outside the US. There have been 58 games played in Canada, England, Mexico, Spain. Sweden, Ireland, Germany, Japan and Australia.
