correct, nobody knows if anybody actually acts on anything they've read on here.

lots of people on here say that nobody actually commits such acts in real life or goes out and does something because of something they have read.

truth is that nobody actually knows if that is the case or not.

 

Well I can assure you that all of my stories are fictional, and although I could never be 100% sure about anybody else, I still don't think it's a good reason to ban it.
By that reasoning they should ban stories about kidnapping, rape, or any other illegal act because hey, it could be a true story.

If you know of even one credible study that shows a causative link between reading pedo stories, and molesting children then please post a link, and I will read it.
I find it highly unlikely that actual pedophiles need us to give then ideas.
As far as that goes, ogling the child underwear models in the Sears catalog would probably be enough to give them ideas.
And what about Toddles & Tiaras?
These are real children dressed up, and made up to look sexy.
I find that much more offensive than any fictional story.

If you want to protect children in real life then more power to you, that is a worthy use of your time that I support with my whole heart, but I'm not anywhere near convinced that banning these stories will prevent even one molester from acting on his/her urges.

The plot is not always what the story is really about.
The thing is, I'm really into role play, (incest, age play, etc.) and I express that through my writing.
That's how I met the love of my life.
She read my story Popping Ashley's little cherry, and decided she wanted to be my little girl.
I just thank my lucky stars that she was able to read it before it got taken down.

Now I can understand why this subject is repulsive to you, and I have all the empathy in the world for anyone who has been molested.
People who have had a close friend, or relative murdered probably don't find murder mysteries all that entertaining, but no one is suggesting they be banned.

 

Oddly there is a now rare Stephen King novel that he pulled when Colombine occured... Did it lead to the shootings? doubtful... but it was apparently close enough that he didn't want to glorify it... *shrugs* Banning something will just make people want something more... it is always the case, there are always a few people in decent society who want to color outside of the lines. and they will and there is little you can do to stop them... whine all you like... I look at banning stories like I look at the prohibition of alcohol... did it work?

And shit if people are going to have the fantasies ... what are you going to do... police their thoughts?

 

If you ban something because u disagree with it, is taking rights away.

If u don't post a disapproval, because it stops arguments.

Ok first off no more God damn "Stories influence people's actions." This totally reminds me of the whole "video games cause violence" arguement. It is complete and total bullshit. While we are banning stuff, ther are some states in the U.S and other countries around the world where ANY sexually explicit material or sex toy is illegal. Might as well take down the whole site, hell the whole internet while you are at it.

 

I remember that story, it was called Rage, and it was one of the stories he wrote under the pen-name Richard Bachman.
After he became a best selling author he republished it in a collection called The Bachman books, it included The Running Man, and a story called The Body which became the film Stand By Me.
I'd tend to agree that it probably had no influence on the shooters, but it was pulled out of sensitivity for the victims of a national tragedy.

As for policing thoughts, some people wish they could.

I'm against Incest/Rape/Pedo, in real life, but fiction is not real.
I don't think there's anything wrong with posting your disapproval, as far as I'm concerned that is also a free speech issue.
I don't like all stories of this kind, and in fact back when this site was a place were you could post anything I read some things that I found down right disturbing, but I don't think banning them has made the site better.

Banning stuff gives them voice, by not banning it give no voice but a read. If its fiction. But if its put down as true story, then it should at least be flagged but not banned.

Wow chill. Look I was molested when I was four and I am not this batshit crazy. And really if you think your thing is so bad try living the first nine years of my life, you would either be dead or in a mental hospital. And sorry if I am wrong but banning something gives it a voice? I am sorry but no it doesn't it is just singling out a group of people and telling them they can no longer speak. Here is what I say, if you really are going to ban something that has to do with sexual interests then just ban everything. It is a domino effect, ban one because it is offensive to some then slowly everything will get banned. The problem with humans is that we like to go to the extremes. We need guidance, but only enough to show us our options. Oh and also the reason I said religion doesn't make a good argument is because of how illogical it is. To some religion homosexuals are considered immoral. So wait in a few year even gay stories will be gone (along with interracial, anything except straight vaginal sex, and even sex in general).

Oh and lastly don't tell us to move on just to try and end the topic. Like I said before I don't have an opinion in most things (I am a neutral party in most things and like to play the devil's advacate) however one thing I love is to learn how people think and act. So seeing all these opinions extremely fascinates me. (Yes I am studying you all, you are my test dummies) So if people wish to discuss this let them. Whether or not you act on your sexual attraction is immaterial to the fact that you get a boner thinking of kids in a sexual way. Actually incest and beastiality porn isn't illegal they are counted as fetish subjects. Only way incest is if they can 100% prove it contains actual family members having sex and are first cousins or under. Talked to a lawyer yesterday about it =D
