It all has to do with them trying to sue, they want some one to interfere with their rights or to attack them. When they were going to attend that young girl's funeral they agreed not to when a radio station up here offered them $$$ to stay away.

Then they tried to come up here recently and were advised that if they disrupted the event that they would be arrested. Dumb arses cried Our Constitutional Right and were actually shocked when advised that it ended at The U.S. Border.

 

You cannot pick and choose. Either you have freedom, or you don't.

Freedom of speech is not a fucking buffet.

 

Exactly what they found when they said they were coming to England to protest, our laws allow us to arrest people for inciting hatred, but they did condemn the whole country to hell, as an atheist I find that offensive and will seek legal counsel.

 

Mark my words, there will be a grieving widow or mother that will take matters into their own hands. If you want to be an idiot and protest for your own ignorant reasons, you may need to pay the price.

I'm not talking about doing the right thing or doing the wrong thing. Clearly they're not doing the right thing. But what they're doing is legal in this country, and if you make it illegal, the next time YOU want to say something controversial, that might be illegal, too.

 

Freedom is messy, but I happen to prefer it.
It's when people are saying things that we find repugnent that we are truly tested on our comitment to it.
The court acted well within accepted legal precedents on free speech, as well they should.
Remember, the laws that protect their right to act like jack asses are the same laws that protect your right to shoot your mouth off on a porn forum.

 

Here's the really tough thing about "freedom of speech" or the counter of that censorship. It is that the only way we can have free speech for ourselves is to allow it to all others. And any restriction on someone else's freedom of speech automatically restricts our own.

And sometimes, just like this time, that belief and the actual realization of it is severely tested. But we also need to have the strength in our beliefs and ideals to take the worst with the best.

That's why I agree with the Supreme Court decision and predict it could also be worse and probably will be. In this case it was hateful Westboro Clan hiding behind their church.

Next time, if the court remains consistent, they will probably have to find some pervert has a right to write a how to book on pedophilia. But that one is a ways off.

i don't know if anyone said it yet, even though their right to protest is within the first amendments rights, someone at every funeral could get a restraining order against them, citing they fear "extreme mental abuse" that could lead to psychological scarring and issues, and make the distance "within earshot" of a very good hearing person, don't know about u, but i can hear someone shouting from about 3 miles away, or more depending on conditions. that would be a good way of insuring they keep some distance. hell, if i had my way, have a good sized service held at a cemetery on private land, and make sure to post those "trespassers will be shot" signs, then wait for them to show their hypocritical, indecent faces, and kindly remove them forever

The only "right" considered by the Supreme Court was the right to free speech.

Where in hell do those people come up with enough money to even travel to a military funeral thousands of miles away let alone enough money to fight a case through the Supreme Court?

Someone or lots of someones have to be funding them and probably taking their tax exemptions in the process. That might be one way to thwart them.

But I also bet the second someone tries to take away the tax exemptions of some church the suit will immediately be joined by every religion in the US.

I ought to know Ace. I was charged with Breach of the Peace because I told a car hop to tell her boss to "fuck off." She didn't want to press charges but her boss managed to. The only thing that saved me was I didn't say it to him.
