  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

No. And I wouldn't react because I'd be dead. Or I might go "oooOOooo".

i dont think i will be alive, but what little i know about this subject its hard for me to imagine that they ever will. i have heard many wild stories about other galixies that are supposed to be like ours and have a planet like earth.

oh i dont think that it does not exist, i just dont know that we will ever find it. travel to other planets in our solar system takes many years, to travel outside our solar system, well i am not sure if thats possible yet

There's a strong possibility that life exists in the oceans under Europa's (one of Jupiter's moons) frozen surface.

Never say never. Except when you say that statement....in which case it's ok.

I think if the new life form is a microscopic amoeba then most people wouldnt care that much unfortunately. Hopefully they are two headed dragon tiger hybrids.

I agree exactly... The universe is way to vast for there not to be life on another planet as far as I'm concerned. As for ever actually finding it... well, to communicate with life it'd have to be intelligent life, and that kind of narrows the chances a bit. Either that or we can journey across to Alpha Centurai galaxy and see what's there.... but that won't be in my lifetime. Even if they set off now I'd probably be dead before they got there

From what we know of non-living chemistry in deep space, it is just about a certainty that any planet on which water can exist in liquid form will harbour life of some kind. What we don't know is (a) how rare an event is the sort of collision that results in our having such a bloody enormous satellite, and (b) how significant it is that our planet, because of that bloody enormous satellite, has marked tides which encourages the colonisation of land.

It is possible, and it may even be likely, that life appears damn near everywhere in the sea, but almost nowhere on land. And in the sea, there cannot be technology without fire, so there cannot be civilisation even if there is intelligence. (How many technological advances have dolphins made, even though they might actually be MORE intelligent than humans...)

Which brings us to the second point; how can we observe a planet with liquid water, closely enough to confirm the existence of life? Well, Europa possibly excepted, we can't. There is no evidence of life on Earth if you look at it even from as close by as Mars. Four light years away? You're insane if you even bother trying. So, unless land colonisation and technology and civilisation actually ARE common, we're going to be in the position of knowing that life will be out that but never seeing where it is.

I'm not sure but I hope so. I get the feeling that if/when life is discovered on another planet, it will be because they let us know they're there, not because we discover them.

I'm always amazed by what my great grandmother witnessed. She was born in 1902 and passed away in 1996. I've done a lot of research into when things were invented and discovered that just because something was invented in one year doesn't mean that it was readily available or even affordable to the public. For example, the car was invented sometime in the 1800's but not mass produced until 1908. I wonder what she thought of everything that happened since then.

Any scans/signals/data/ect we get about anything outside our solar system has taken millenia to reach us. To respond will take just as long, at least, for that message to reach their planet.

Also, consider all the amazing things that happened to our planet. A space rock hit us just right to tilt us, giving us seasons, the moon, and the electromagnetic field that blocks most of the sun's more harmful effects. A global freeze focused the suns radiation causing the mutation from single cell to multi cell organisms (look up Snowball Earth.) And we're in our sun's "habitable zone" distance.

Sure, these conditions are likely to exist elsewhere too and life can evolve in other conditions, but odds are, the first life we find elsewhere will be single cell. Not alien beings to share cultures with.

When we're able to move 4-dimensionally, we may be able to open up portals allowing us to actually observe other possible habitable planets quickly and often, and start to colonize them.
