For me friends are people I share common interests with. And it doesn't matter what gender there are.

I met my best male friend 'cause we used to scubadive in the same group. And most of my male friends it's through some other common activity that we are involved in.

So that's why our friendships work.

My friends and I talk about this a lot! And right now at 22 / college age I think it is very hard. I flirt with most of my guy friends and kiss them as do my most of my girl friends. So at this point in my life I think it is very hard to just be friends without flirting or kissing at times.

x74, i am actually very secure, and my wife is free to be friends with whoever she likes. I was just putting in my two cents about men and women in relationships. How platonic relationships are quite rare, mostly because at some point one of the two either make a move for something more, or realize that something more is possible. I myself don't find it to be platonic if one person would fuck them if allowed.

Men and women like to flirt, like to be wanted, and be special. Most want this from their significant other, but get it instead from a "platonic friend" and there shouldn't be a shock if either party takes it a step too far.

I think you can. I have two platonic freindships with girls, but they are not great friends because they have such different tastes in activities than I do, so we do not do that many things together. I do not have many platonic girl friends, however, or get new ones often.

Thanks for all the feedback guys/gals. I see a lot of you say it's possible while many feel that there are always ulterior motives. I pretty much figured that but I just wanted to get an idea of how many people feel it's possible. I've been pretty disappointed by a few friends in recent months.
