  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

In essence ( if he's upping his caloric intake as well) he is creating more muscle mass by forcing his body to burn the calories at a higher rate by raising his internal and external body temperature while working out. And it can be effective to a degree. Since FNG is doing this as a more of a rehabilitation to restore lost muscle it should be semi effective.
He was also making sure to replace water loss, so it's not shedding pounds by reducing fluids...

I did an on-line search onthis subject. Every independent source I could find said that this practice was at best ineffective and at worst dangerous due to dehydration.

The only sources I could find that claimed any positive effect for this practice were sites selling sweatsuits.

I don't see any scientifically plausible way that increasing heat during exercise will have a positive effect on muscle building. Do you have any links to research that has positive findings for this practice?

if he's replacing fluids and electrolytes, as well as taking in sufficient calories there is no dehydration factor ( and he posted his water intake during the exercise).
Biology.com offers a good explanation of how heat effects blood flow and muscle mass as well as a few more insights into the working of muscle & skin.
There are dangerous practices of thermogenics and thermogenic supplements ( mainly forms of niacin to increase internal body temps without the exercise factor, so called "fat burners") but again, he's not trying to burn fat as much in his workout, if you take the time to go back and read the posts, Trumpet.
I would suggest checking a couple of body building sites as well...

Thanks. I'll check the link tomorrow, but I'd also add that from what I've seen there's an incredible amount of fad quackery and outright bullshit being peddled on a lot of bodybuilding sites.

Still, there might be something in it. I'll check the link. There's always somethign new to learn, eh?

Third day in a row, got all three 10 minute walks in today. I know it's not a marathon, but I hope to be able to increase gradually until I have a regular fitness regimen that will help me tone and maintain. Starting with 3 10 minute walks a day is 30 minutes/5 days a week. The hard part is making it a habit I find, so hopefully posting will keep me motivated and honest! :)

I've had a look at Biology.com and I can't see anything on there that relates to research about heat during exercise for muscle building (or weight loss), although I have to admit I didn't think it was very easy to search it for actual information beyond how to buy their text books.

Do you have a link to the right page so I can read up? Thanks for humouring an aging luddite.;)

I've hit the gym the past three days--I swear! My legs are killin' me! (lol)
I just didn't post my stats and I've half forgot them by now. I'll try very hard not to do that from now on.

I really want to do better in life and I do want a better body.

You've got to get fuel into the machine if you want it to get out of the garage. Don't beat yourself up so much. Good work with the cycling.

Good man. Well done. It gets to be a habit if you stick with it, then you'll just do it without thinking.

My 'give-a-shit' was broke the last few days because it was the weekend and I didn't feel like posting.

I'll get back on the ball with today's:

    3 x 15 squats
    3 x 15 shrugs
    3 x 15 calf raises
    3 x 15 standing tricep press
    3 x 15 bench
    3 x 15 incline
light curls (just for shits and grins)

stretching between each set 30 seconds related muscle groups

    30 minutes cardio

I'm not going to post my workout. I've posted the easiest part of it before. I just want to say one thing.

I read the first page and saw origen mention to a female member to "protein up". Now unless this was a joke about getting her daily requirements of cum, I have to say that this is very bad advice.

First of all, protein should only be used in mass quantities when wanting to bulk up and add mass/muscle. Protein supplements should only be used when trying to bulk up in a big way and really any supplement should be the absolute LAST resort. Eat and drink healthy and for fuel, not for comfort, be active, and try to get everything you can from food and drink first. Protein bars are one thing but do not ever drink a protein shake that has enough protein in it to make you gain muscle unless you are trying to do just that. Really, you should consult an actual expert before looking into any supplement, such as a nutritionist or something similar. Even the people at GNC don't always know best.

Also, trumpet's advice about starting off walking as opposed to running only a little bit is very solid advice, and something I had to learn the hard way myself awhile back.

Good luck to all of you. I hope you all meet your goals. Stick with it and don't ever give up or take off.
