  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

Jesus H. Fucking Christ! That's my point! Allah does equal God. But he is not a Christian. So, when the O.P. capitalizes God, he does not mean Christ's fricking dad!

    Islam

I read some drivel in a diatribe too long to copy, about Muslims wanting to convert or kill all the other religions. What an absolute crock of shit. Saying that all Muslims follow Sharia Law is like saying all Americans are drug dealing, murdering outlaws just because the Hells Angels are. About one percent of Muslims follow Sharia Law and in the rest, at the main altar is a copy of the al-Khoran and beside it is a copy of the Bible, because the Prophet said in his teachings that whosoever believes in one true god MUST be welcomed as a brother. . .and I am NOT a Muslim. I do however have have friends who are Muslim, and Sikh, and Buddhist, and Taoist and several other religions, and NONE of them try to force feed me their religion like the frickin' Christians do !!! ;);)

I'm directing this towards both "Clarise" as well as "Hardrive".
I won't for a moment pretend to be as well educated or as articulate as both of you obviously are. I have a deep respect and appreciation for both of your writings and hoping your participation continues in this thread.
If this seems disjointed and rambling please forgive me because I'm trying to write this while dealing with a horrendous headache. I've been diagnosed with a brain aneurism and so have been forced to face my own mortality which has made this subject paramount in my thoughts.

I've read most of the posts but not all so I may have missed one which could be similar to this.
The thread I originally started reading was " Disproof of Gods Worthy of Worship". In that thread the premise is based on mathematical equations. Mathematics being a science (though some dispute that fact) I'd like to present another perspective as well as questions based on the sciences related to energy using one generally accepted fundamental fact.

Energy can neither be created or destroyed. "EVERYTHING" in the human physical and mental condition is possible only through the electric fields/energy throughout the human body. Previously, it has only been possible to measure electric fields across cell membranes, not within the main bulk of cells, so scientists didn't even know cells had an internal electric field. The existence of strong electric fields across cellular membranes is accepted as a basic fact of cell biology. It's the discovery of the internal electric field of each individual cell that gives added credence to my theory.
Transmission of information throughout our bodies and the storage of information/memories is only possible because of these electrical fields (energy). Using our current technologies it's possible to see pictures of auras or electrical fields (energy)of the human body as well as plants. The reason I mention plants is because of an experiment published in American journals showing a leaf and it's aura and when a portion of the leaf had been cut away and re-photographed there was a phantom image of the cut away portion along with the remaining original leaf. The scientific community has only just begun to reach any semblance of understanding of the implications of these electrical fields/energy found in both human cels, plant life, our planet, the solar system etc.
As individuals, we are only a miniscule part of a much larger picture.

    Questions:
Are we all somehow connected because of these electrical fields/energy?
Energy can neither be created or destroyed so how did our individual energy/existence actually begin (or has it always existed) and is our individual energy without end since energy can’t be destroyed?
Somehow our ancient, supposedly uneducated ancestors seemed to have some understanding of this. The foundation of many religions also reflect this.
Since our memories are stored because of this enigma of electrical fields/energy and our bodies fail and pass on with "our energy" never being able to be destroyed, does that mean that along with it a possibility exists we in some form actually go on forever as well? Will our memories of life experiences go on becoming part of a much larger collective?
When you break down a cell to it’s basic structure you find a collection of atoms. I find it a curiosity that the universe actually mimics the atomic structure. Could this also explain infinity? Structure upon structure?
Finally, Since the center of an atom is it’s nucleus, when taking into consideration the universe and beyond, like the atom, is there a center of all things? Could it be considered a deity, God for the lack of a better word or what else would that be?

Hopefully awaiting a response from both "Clarise and Hardrive. If one of you should become absent from this thread could you please contact the other to post here as well? Any information either of you may forward would be greatly appreciated. It's the sharing of thoughts that bring us closer to the truth. It's my own personal truth that I'm trying to solidify. As with any school of thought we either accept or reject portions of them but unwise to reject altogether as it may become relevant as our human experiences change.
Thanking both of you in advance.

Organized religion is an opiate for the many and a power trip for the few. Most people cannot be bothered to think for themselves therefore they look to leaders to think for them. More evil has been perpetrated in the name of "good" religions than all other reasons combined because of religious zeal and the political agendas of religious leaders.

Rather than troubling themselves to consider reality people blame a supernatural entity, God if you like, for everything from a sunny day to a disease or war. Rather than facing up to their own shortcomings or those of others they blame things on the influence of a "Devil". "The Devil did it but God allowed him too".

It is far easier to remain ignorant and cling to myth than it is to learn and think.

Clarise, POST 36 by Ceejay1 and copied to one of Tina's posts got me all pissed off. I hate bigoted little fuckwits that use generalizations to spread hate and mistrust amongst the other mindless cretins who are prepared to accept Ceejay's moronic rants. The ONLY religions that have tried to impose their beliefs on me are the Seventh Day Adventurers and the Latter Day Snobs who want one sixth of my wages so they can build another Tabernacle to celebrate how easy it is to rip off the sheep. 99 percent of Muslims are just like the nicer god fearing Christians, and have no desire whatever for murder or religious persecution. Personally I think you are one of the more intelligent, educated and moderate voices on this site and Ceejay is your opposite. :rose::rose:

being an electrician, i find it difficult to swallow you comments that energy can not be destroyed. When you say energy we are talking electrical energy, correct? when electrical energy is converted to mechanical energy it is "burned off" therefore leaving you without electrical charge. Iwould like to better understand what you are talking about and also see where you are trying to go with it.

    huh?!??

You say you're an electrician, by profession, and you don't know where that amperage "goes" after it powers something mechanical? Really?!??

Just read it. Yep. A born-again doofus.

He cites the "Biblical anti-christ." There is no such thing. The anti-christ (God's diametrical opposite) is an invention of Hollywood. Anyone who has actually read the Bible knows that the so-called antichrist is a charismatic figure who precedes Christ's second coming. Thus, the popularized spelling is a mis-translation. The Biblical figure is more appropriately spelled as ante-christ," or "before Christ."

What any of this has to do with the Twelfth Imam is anyone's guess. Probably nothing, given that the poster has it all wrong and doesn't even know his own Bible, much less the Q'uran.

You seem to be suggesting in the following that electrical energy is simply "burned off" - that the energy disappears somehow. Did I read the following from you incorrectly?

In re-reading your comment, I think you're just making the error of confusing power with energy. They are not the same thing. Electromagnetic energy is only one form of several.

    Feel better.

    My sympathies.

For what it's worth, I am an active alpine speed climber and free-solo ice climber (as in, vertical, alone, with no rope). Thus, I have faced my mortality, as you have put it, several times, and have even been given up for dead. (No kidding. Check out some pictures I have taken, in my profile.) As such, I have acquired, shall we say, a "gallows humor," and I have a way of riling and infuriating just about everyone here, for one reason or another. So if my response on this post riles and infuriates you, so be it.

I am not done over there. At least two more installments, in order to complete my "disproof." I have the draft of the next installment at my side right now, but you have distracted me. ;)

Not really. Just the first post, to establish the logic. The rest is purely dialectical, but logically so.

Curious. I suppose I am one to dispute it. I see Mathematics as the language of science. And since it is a language, I see it is a branch of philosophy. In fact that is the "standard" view. Professional mathematicians are, strictly speaking, doctors of philosophy, specializing in the one or more branches of mathematics.

But I am quibbling. Sorry. I get your point, and I am reading on....

Okay.... not sure what your theory is, but I presume it is coming up....

Okay.... not aware of this phantom image business....

    Okay....

    Questions:

Not sure what you mean by "connected."

I agree that energy is conserved. I do not know that this fact gives you sufficient reason to speculate that the energy currently resident within you has always been yours (presumably since the inception of the universe) and always will be yours (presumably to the end of the universe).

Interesting fact: When a photon enters a fiber-optic cable, "travels" the length of the cable, and "exits" at the opposite end.... That is not really what happens. What really happens is that the photon is absorbed by every atomic nucleus it encounters. The net energy of each "collided" nucleus is raised for a fraction of an instant (a small multiple of the Planck
Time), and then "adjusts" by ejecting a new photon, which proceeds down the cable, and hits another nucleus, and so on. That is why photons travel slightly slower than the speed of light in fiber-optic cable.

What does this have to do with anything? It merely demonstrates that energy is constantly changing form. Not only does it not belong "to us," but arguably it does not even belong to atomic nuclei, for more than fractions of instants.

    Moving on....

    Probably not... see above....

Memory stops when the brain stops working, right? And the "energy" in the dead body is consumed by the bacteria and worms that decompose the body, and is thus conserved, within the bacteria and worms that grow and reproduce as a result....

Atoms in the common conception do look superficially like little solar systems, but I am not sure if this is what you mean by "mimics." In any event solar systems and galaxies are coerced and constrained by gravity. Atomic nuclei are coerced and constrained by different forces entirely (namely, the strong force, the weak force, and the electromagnetic force).

But I get your point, I think. You are thinking along the lines of infinite regression, I think, or perhaps infinite reducibility (as in fractal pictures, such as the pretty Mandelbrot cardioid that I use as an avatar here). I don't know. Given the premises are a bit off, I just don't know....

The universe has no spatial center. It looks the same from everywhere (as proven by Hubble). In the larger sense, the universe is spatiotemporal (exists in space and time), and in the sense that you mean, perhaps one could argue that the center of the universe is its state at the point of its half-life. How one would calculate a value for the half-life of the universe is hard to imagine, but it is an intriguing thought.

As to whether that "center" could in fact be God, I guess I would have to ask: why would it have to be?

Curiously, there exists a means to "prove God" circumstantially, without actually producing Him (or Her) for inspection. The "proof" consists of exhibiting some feature of nature that cannot be explained without God. Most pagan deities are justified on the basis of such "proofs," but science inevitably invalidates pagan deities, as we develop superior explanations. These days, there is nothing that cannot be explained without God. That is, there is no feature of nature that is "supernatural."

Every few years, the so-called Creationists attempt a circumstantial proof of this kind. (The latest incarnation is the Intelligent Design movement.) Every such attempt is conclusively discredited.

"God" used to explain lightning. No longer. These days, He/She has been pushed back all the way to the beginning of the universe, and people insist that cosmological physics will never crack that nut. Yet mankind has had a workable Inflationary Cosmology Theory for less than thirty years, and it is being constantly improved. The underlying mathematics makes big strides every year as well. That is why cosmological physicists (like Hawking) are now publicly saying that there is most likely no need for a "ghost in the machine" of the universe's beginning.

I couldn't agree with you enough.

When the Jehovah Witness's come by I have a slick way to get them to leave. I invite them in for coffee and excuse myself. I put on my wife's clothes and offer them more coffee. For some reason they have an urgent meeting to go to. I have lived at this same place for 12 years and they never have come back. Also works with Mormon Missionaries. Especially when I offer them a blow job. They can't leave fast enough.
