How does one get started in the porn business? Not as a actor or actress but something like maybe filming or editing? Not sure if anyone knew at all so was just asking. I would think it would be like any other job. Take classes on how to use the equipment, set-building, directing, etc.

From there, contact various companies with your resume, or if you have the capital, start your own.

 

I've seen several interviews on TV with people in the porn business, also filmers, directors etc. They told that they so much had to concentrate on their work that it hardly gave time for sexual arousement. Though it is a spicy profession, definitely. They also told that 'the business' isolated them from normal society, including disapproving family. Altogether, it sounded less desirable than you would think beforehand.

you have to keep in mind, it's very little "start to finish" filming. Constantly having to stop the action to change a camera angle, adjust lighting, etc. It's not as if they walk in and say "action" and film a couple going at it from start to finish. And that's not even counting blocking the scenes, make-up, wardrobe, etc. Then (and if you have good audio, you'll notice this a lot) there's the director in the background calling out position changes or telling the girl to turn this way or that way. You can often even catch the actors turning to listen to the instructions. Pretty hard to get aroused with all that going on AND trying to focus on keeping the shot or holding a boom mic out of frame.

Hubby has a friend from college who was in the porn editing game a while back. I don't know if he still does it or not. All I know is it paid well. We never talked about whether or not it was still interesting after it became "work".

your money and won't teach you shit or very little.
make sure they have a valid license in teaching the program too.

find out all you can about financial aide for it. you may have to

Working on the tech side of a porn film is like working on any other kind of film. (And I mean film, not a guy with a digital camera paying for girls to fuck him and shooting POV.) I worked on one porn film a long time ago- all the way from pre-production through editing. It almost ruined watching porn for me. Porn movies are trying to create a fantasy. However, there is nothing sexy about a porn set. It is hot and crowded. There is no eroticism in the sex acts; the actors might as well be doing push ups. To correct an earlier poster, most of the sex is shot continous, sometimes with two cameras but often without. Stopping and starting a sex scene is usually avoided as it can be very physically demanding on the actors, as you might imagine. All this makes the set very stressful. If you don't get the shot, you're fucked- there's no going back. (We had an inexperienced male actor who came inside the actress- no money shot I thought the director was going to kill him ) After the first day, I usually avoided the set during a sex scene if I wasn't needed to shine a key light at an actress's crotch. Besides, I was working 18 hrs days so I'd use the time to rest. I did manage to hook up with one of the girls on the camera crew, so I can't say there was no sex in the air:grin:.

Overall, it's just a job for most of the crew, although we did have one guy that volunteered to be in an orgy scene (and I did do a cross onscreen, fully clothed, during a party scene). Learn a skill and you will probably find yourself doing a lot of porn until you get your career established. A lot of film industry types got started in porn, including some that would go on to make movies about space empires . Just don't let it ruin porn watching for you.

In my opinion, the filming of most of the porn I see is very poorly done. Very unprofessional.... The camera is often too close to the action. The camera often zooms in too much. The camera is often focused on the back of the female while she rides, I don't want to see her back.... The camera does not spend enough time focused on the females face.... And I hate when the talent looks at the camera ( like Victoria Allure often does ).

The best filmmaking I have seen was done in the early Butttman ( Stagliano ) films. He knew how to film the scene and stay out of the way.... He let the camera film and had few cuts in a scene....

Did I mention that I hate it when the female looks at the camera instead of her partner or simply keeping her eyes closed?
