I had a story taken down a couple months ago, so I corrected the age issue the following way. Here's the introduction and the first paragraph of my story.

INTRODUCTION:I have reposted this story. It was removed once because the girl in the story was 12 years old. So I have corrected the sentence which gives her age thereby making this story in compliance with the new censorship rules.

My name is Nancy. I'm (bleep) years old. It’s Saturday morning. The best day of the week. No school, no need to worry about homework till tomorrow evening and daddy will be out of my hair most of the day. Best of all I have the whole day to go skateboarding with my friends.........

This is old news.

When Nophest left, some months ago, he dropped the bomb about "underage" stories. Everyone panicked. Nophest himself told us to back up our stuff.

After months of confusion and inaction, something is finally happening. A lot of us don't like it, and the way in which it appears to be happening seems pretty arbitrary.

We've had that dreaded "report" button on the front page for some time now. As soon as it appeared, a few stories went into the ether, but then it seemed like things settled down into business as usual. People who like stories about younger characters went back to writing and reading them, and people who didn't care for them ignored them.

Now, somebody is probably using the button again. We can argue until we die about the appropriateness of banning stories about one illegal act, while allowing stories about others. It's silly to even discuss it. The entity doing business as www.xnxx.com has set a rule. We are the customers of that business, paying NOTHING for the consumption of its wares. Our "rights" is a meaningless term.

Under my same (or similar) username, I've posted some of my junk on two other erotic story sites. Both of them have had content limitations from the time I first found them. I started re-writing some of my oldest stories to fit their rules, but gave up after posting only a few chapters. Some of my newer stuff works there, since I've been careful to have all my lusty ladies and horny men be eighteen years of age or older, but I still can't post everything on one of the sites, because they don't allow stories about rape, murder, excessive violence (I guess a slap on the face is okay), drugs, and several other things.

That's just the way they are. So, I deal with it. It is what it is.

Whine, bitch, or rage all you like. It doesn't change anything.

Back up your shit, boys and girls. Back up the stories of your favorite authors, too, while you're at it.

The site's not going down. The world isn't coming to an end.

It's just changing.

And I don't really use that without giving my two cents... so I will... actually that's the first time I have used it. So my two cents is don't sweat it... this too shall pass and regardless of the PoPo things will resume as usual until the next uprising. If I understood Ejls right Lexmart was reluctant to even agree to 16 he just wanted to leave it alone and let things continue as they are... I won't bitch out Ejls for asking it was the prudent thing for her to do given her position. However I and some of the rest of us writers liked it more nebulous and we were fine with that. The cat is out of the bag now we have to wring it's neck. When the Zealots curb their appetites for destruction, then business will resume as normal. Until then we will have to carefully post our work or post it elsewhere, I myself will be posting all of my work on the site listed as my website on my profile.

 

I still think xnxx is being stupid by doing this. But nothing I can do about that.

 

Well, I went ahead and did it.

I just sent off a pm, asking to have a lot of my stuff pulled. "The Girls at the Store" series will soon be gone, as will two stand-alone stories. Many stories in the "Girls" series dealt solely with an older man and females age eighteen or older, but leaving only some chapters of the series wouldn't make sense, since the story line was progressive. So, down the toilet with the whole thing.

The two stand-alone stories will be re-posted soon after the originals are gone, since I had already written "politically correct" versions of them for another site, which believes that puberty begins at eighteen. The rest of my collection (mainly my more recent posts) is already age-appropriate -- everyone is at least eighteen years old. I've reformed.

The reason for this was defensive. I didn't want to have some member of the Moral Minority report a story and wind up with everything disappearing. I really don't feel like re-posting all my shit, so I voluntarily removed anything that could be found remotely offensive by the pedophobes.

Is everyone fucking happy now?

 

I suspect not.

I believe most of us can agree that much of life is about compromise. We would like to pay $1 for a gallon of gasoline, and the powers that control the prices would like us to pay many more times that. We reach a compromise at roughly $4 a gallon. Many other examples, no need to elaborate.

Let's say you were the site owner. Not you personally WSF, the reader of this post. Let's say you were making a good living off of the site. You make nothing off of the forum. You make ditto off of the stories section. All your money comes from the video side, etc.

Some let's say I'm an advertiser, and my lawyer says "hey, this site hosts this, that, and the other thing. You may have some exposure." True or not, if the lawyer said it, the advertiser doesn't want to take a chance. So, he pulls his advertising or threatens to unless "whatever" is done. And it snowballs into several advertisers.

As the site owner, are you going to care about a relatively few disgruntled writers, brilliant/prolific that they might be, or, are you going to look out for #1? From a strictly business point of view, you are going to compromise. You are going to do what you have to in order to keep your revenue base, and still try to not anger everyone.

Well after this time a guideline, sort of.
I understand not wanting it to be rigid but if the report mechanism is the button and the story gets pulled without verification by someone its a formula for chaos.

I always thought it was "funny" that rape, torture kidnapping ,snuff and cannibalism were ok depending on the age of fictional characters.

I understand people wanting to pull their work as when it was written you were under the belief it was fine for site.New work won't be the problem.Sixteen if accurate is a fair age. People before sixteen have thoughts of a sexual nature but its a fair compromise.

Thanks to ejls for getting an answer. Too bad it took what happened to Hard Drive, during contest no less, to spur an answer from admin.

 

I just shrug my shoulders. The last two stories I wrote were solely for this ruling. The age was kept ambigious at best.

I have noticed that a few writers who are disgruntled, have sited cannibalism, rape and other extreme sexual fantasies. On why they are allowed but not under-age stories. Please don't. The New Puritans will start on them next

 

I think 16 is a bit old. 14 would be more practical given that by then most people would be at least part way through puberty.

 

That, EP, is the method I've chosen for my current story series. Even though all characters currently in use (or planned) are age 16 or over, I decided not to include their age. I don't think it's adversely affected the storyline at all. In fact I believe it may actually enhance the stories by limited details that are just as easily assumed by the reader. The above short-take is a very good example of this style. Bravo, Sir :grin:

I hope you have a daughter or a sister and she gets raped at 14, maybe then you will change your mind. 14 is rape no matter which way you look at it. That kid might have the physical traits of an adult but it does not have the mental ones to make the right decissions in life.

 

I wouldn't wish that on any parent, regardless of whether the daughter is 14 or 40. You are right in saying that teens have the physical traits of adults (and, in many cases, the desires), but do not have the mental ones to make sound decisions. Of course, that can be said of a lot of people in their twenties, forties, and sixties!

For myself, I've decided to limit my stories to involve characters who are at least eighteen. I'm not sure what magical thing happens the day after someone has aged 17 years and 364 days, but apparently we automatically become mature, reasoning adults at the stroke of midnight. That's the way the legal system see it. I suspect that's the way this business' advertisers see it, so we have to adapt and try to see it that way, too.

Still, there have been some well-written, poignant coming-of-age stories posted here in the past. It's a shame to see them go.

And don't you dare tell me you never had a sexual thought until your 18th birthday. I'll call bullshit on that. Probably, most of us learned a lot about sex, in the back seat of Daddy's car, or under the bleachers, or at church camp, before we reached that magical age. Were we old enough to be doing that? Probably not, but we did it anyway.

But rules is rules is rules.

 

Now, if your comment had consisted of your last two sentences only, I could have agreed with you. But I never realized that the moral high road allows for wishing rape upon a teenaged girl just because you disagree with one of her relatives about the rules of a porn forum.

Clarity is good, and I understand the reluctance to set such a number, given the wildly varying feelings/standards on the matter.

This should help greatly. I know it makes me think I might start submitting some of my work, now.

 

My own opinion is that explicitly saying you wish a certain harm on someone (someone who is completely innocent, in this case) is worse than writing a story that includes that harm. It removes any moral high ground that might have existed, IMO.

Others are free to disagree, and to note my fantasy interests all they like; I would never wish rape on anyone. Anyone at all.
