Personally, I think the more people of different races fuck each other, the sooner we can eradicate racism from the face of the Earth. We'll all be the same color. So go for it, big guy!

I honestly feel some people still look down on it even though nothing is said.

I havent had many problems as im Arabic and my girlfriend is Portugese but sometimes i feel a bit of tension when im around some of her family memebers. Its a bit strange too because i dont have an accent and if i never said anything about my race they wouldnt know because i look white.

 

Oh, there's no doubt that a lot of people are closed-minded about such things. You're probably not imagining the tension in the air. But the two of you need to do what's best for you, and let the world catch up as best they can.

 

Stay out of the hick towns. You have to watch those good ol' boys down there don't decide they need to teach ya a lesson.

Worked with a guy from a small town near Memphis a few years back and he didn't have any problems explaining how this "boy" was so dumb that he drowned while trying to swim the river with the section of chain that he stole from the local hardware. And he was serious, I couldn't believe it.

Personally I don't have a problem hopefully some day we will all be tan.
But then there will always be more and less tan. Human nature I guess you have to push someone down to push yourself up.

 

I thank you for all your opinions..Its good to get other peoples point of views. really dont care what my friends or anybody else thinks, BUT! on the other hand my parents opinion matters the most.

 

I don't even notice interracial couples, really. California has such a diverse population, when a white guy or girl is with an asian, black, or hispanic person, or any other racial combination thereof, it's more often just... two people dating. Their race is totally irrelevant.

 

I like the differences..

Its blindingly obvious that there IS a LOT of discrimination taught to ethnic groups still..

I recall my own father saying to my sister..
"Promis you'll never come home with an Abo" he meant it also.

His generation is almost all dead now.. but even he was more influenced by what "society" at large used to mouth off with then out of any personal experiences.

I believe many Asian folk tell their kids to avoid Aussie white guys etc... they have many reasons I'm sure, BUT I suspect good old "stick wit ya own kind" is behind a LOT of it.

 

Further I think the issue of COLOR as regards racism is largely a dead issue in all western countries now.

"boy I wish I was with HIM/HER!" type looks etc than
"eeew.. why would a white girl go with him?" ones. (well he would here is AU at any rate..)

However, the issue of culture discrimination.. idealism etc is almost totally untouchable in regards to easing off.

I think I would have more grievous complaints if my daughter wanted to change to a radical form of religion through relationship then the color of her lover.. I include Christian varieties of course.

Plain old black n white discrimination in Australia is almost a non issue.. except for a tiny % of idiots.

But I know for sure there is a lot of resistance to being 'infected' with another culture, at least in AU, by a much larger substrata comprising many different colors. This takes many forms even down to not wanting to live in high density housing or making waterfronts commercial areas. What I'm getting at it IF you go against these deep rooted ideas.. you will find people will for some reason not want you to date there daughter or some shit in SOME but not all cases.

 

I've been reading the posts and I don't disagree with interracial dating but I think a lot of people here are taking this too far. I don't think people should go out of there way to date a person of another race just for the sake of them being another color. There is nothing wrong with not wanting to just date members of your own race if you're not attracted to them. Also when it comes to the South it's not that people are racist it's that they are more traditionalist and traditionally people don't date people of other races. But, that's just my opinion.

Traditionalist is that what they call the KKK these days. In our time of political correctness even the Klan gets a non descript handle.

Adding more spice to the mix always improves the stew. Just be sure you love the one you are with not the racial difference.

 

That's a great point. I've had a lot of guys hit on me in my life who were just turned on by the idea of making it with an Asian girl. Most of them were pretty open about it.

Here goes an opinion from both sides, I am a former skinhead. A girlfriend broke up with me and she started dating a black man shortly afterward. I was raised not mix "blood" and this upbringing influnenced my veiw. I being a metal head, I began to hang w/ the skinheads, and learned to hate every other race. It wasn't until a few years later that a lovely half-hispanic/half-black woman, wouldn't take no for an answer and keep asking me out, even after being called just about slur possible. She just kept taking it. Finally, I asked her why and she said she didn't see me as white just as a good looking guy who had alot of hate in him and she was willing to take it all if it kept it from being directed at someone else. That was all it took. I went out with her, had a great time, started dating her, got the beat down of my life from 10 of my former friends for being a traitor to my race, got even with each one, and lost her for giving into my hate again. Today, I am a better man than I was, I believe people should date whomever they like, as long as its for the right reasons.

I personally think you should treat everyone individually and if you like who they are, then you are halfway there. I believe people who are racist, ignorant etc etc know no better and that they are scared of what they dont know. Black or white I dont care as long as we respect one another

 

I am an white/asian female, and have dated black guy before.

I dont have a problem with interracial dating but even for me, I noticed that even though my own family said they are not racist, when they find that their daughter is dating a black men, they didnt directly tell me not to date him but kept preasuting me to date white/asian men.

But what I did notice is that other people gave me looks, and even out loud said "N***** lover" which to me even though I am not black I find that to be just something ugly to say to anyone when they use the N. word like that.

I think Interracial relationships work, but I think its looked at in a bad way by others....
