You're probably right, but it's us, the members, who set the conventions on here by our actions. When newbies come on here they see what's gone before and dive right in. So what we do from here on will go a long way to setting the tone for what goes on, and helping Chunky and Nympho to not have to spend so much time answerring PMs about derailled threads.

 

I want this to be a place where everyone can enjoy themselves. That means that those that want to look at the pictures can, those that want to chat and flirt can, those that want to discuss weighty, or even trivial, subjects can. I suspect that most members want a combination of all 3, and several more uses that I didn't mention.[edited/quotefor brevity)

But I think it still would be great to have a seperate category so that those who want to participate in other threads and say whatever they want if they want to and not be called on the carpet for doing so in other "serious" threads.

Right now as far as I'm aware, "derailers" are limited to only 2 threads..."Off Topic" and the "Flirting" threads.

How hard would it be to designate a new category for this?

 

There are many "SERIOUS" Threads that turn lighthearted, and many "UNSERIOUS" ones that turn heavy so I'm not sure that'll work?

 

But even if the "serious" threads turned lighthearted in the "Derailer" Section, it really wouldn't matter and this whole subject of conversation wouldn't have to be happening. If you're in that section, you have "permission" to be suggestive or whatever without evoking wrath.

 

Of course you are right that it's existing stablished members who do this often, but we set the tone for the newbies. We were all newies once, and we behave on here, in a lot of cases, the way we saw the established members behaving when we arrived.

(By the way, speaking of stone throwing, did you hear about the RSPB search for junky seagulls? They left no tern un-stoned! Oh, I crack myself up! )

I'm not sure how your suggestion would work. If the thread was started in the "non-derail" section but you wanted to comment on it, but have a record of derailment, what do you do? Set up a duplicate thread in the "Derail" section? Thenyou miss the discussion going on over the other side of the fence in the real thread.

Perhaps a set of off-topic threads, just numbered 1,2,3,4,etc. would allow plenty of space for small groups to break off and chat, without Nophest needing to add a chatroom.

I've no experience on other forum sites though (I found this and never strayed!), so I don't know if this is a problem anywhere else or how they avoid/resolve it.

I don't see any problem with duplicate threads....at least heads wouldn't roll. But if a derailer DID comment on something in the "DO NOT DERAIL" section, they'll have to practice more self-discipline I suppose or face this very thing we're discussing now.

It's sort of like a club treehouse where a sign is put out saying "No Derailers Allowed."

Isn't that just what Chunky suggested in the first place? That we don't go derailling threads on the forum, unless they are called "Off topic" or "Derail" or Random thoughts or some such?

 

But this is porn site with ALL KINDS of sexual things discussed and displayed. But in the "General Discussion" area, there is this controversy...????? What would be the big deal in designating a whole 'nother category instead of limiting it to threads?

No-one is suggesting that we limit the subjects available for discussion. Just that when a thread is there to discuss a subject that's what that particular thread is for. And humour and wit are welcome as part of that discussion, but if you want to just chat then there are other threads where this can happen, without any problem or interference.

In fact, if you look through the pics pages there are several threads where posters pull up someone else for posting something not approapriate to that thread. It's not that no-one wants "Asian babes" being posted, it's just that they don't fit in a thread headed "White chicks, black dicks", for example.

 

I am in no way criticizing you, but you maybe you didn't read downline because you are saying the same thing I did, just in different words. So I truly agree with you.:rose::rose::rose:
