No, you can't say that your wife, husband, daughter or son is your best friend.

Also, it can't be a co-worker, because after your are fired from your job, your supposed friend turns against you and you never hear another word from them again. It happens every time.

Listen, a friend of yours has to be someone that you know really well and you can comfort each each with kind words when the going gets rough.

Why are you trying to find loopholes in such a simple question?

Are you a lonely person that sits for hours at the computer and converses with online friends, but you have none in real life, or are you a person that has several real human friends that you can trust?

The last option is: "I don't have any friends and I don't want any."

 

I have a few "aquaintances" but only one true friend that I actually took a bullet for one time , right in the arm .

Based on the original post I have no friends and don't want any. Anyone I would call "friend" is either a co-worker or online.

There are degrees of friendship. I have maybe a half-dozen GOOD friends, friends I've had most of my life and that I trust under any and all circumstances. People I would make guardians of my children if my husband and I were to die in a fiery inferno.

Then there is a second tier of people I like and who like me, but who I don't tell my darkest secrets too. Maybe 50 of them. Then there are the hundreds and hundreds of casual acquaintances with whom I'm on friendly terms.

I have one best friend, both her and I have been through the same shit during our 20 years. I love her like a sister and she is definitely my rock.

I would do anything for her and she me.

 

Same here and it is a special thing to be able to count on that person as much as they count on you and I have had times where I thought for sure he would disappoint me but have always come through (thick or thin)

 

I have one true best friend, and I'm proud of it. I'd rather have one friend who is truly there for me, and I for her, then a dozen people that pretend to know me.

Considering I've known her since we were 11, she knows more about me that anyone on the planet. It takes me ages to decide if someone is actually a friend, or just someone who is sort of there. Considering I have exactly 2 friends...it doesn't happen often.

well actually ihave quite a few friends. infact have studied in 4 different schools, 4 jobs, various voluntary work, gym and then family as well as neighbourhood, man, i have had a busy life...

infact its getting difficult once u get married.... but its fun too..

I used to have several...as time passes it seems you grow apart. Used to have once real good friend.....he started using coke and he went downhill fast. I could no longer trust him....so we parted ways.
