May I ask why this is one of the most successful? If it's because of the number of entries and the new writers who have posted I will agree that it rates right up there. If you're referring to the meaningless sock voting that has taken place, then I disagree. The number of votes really doesn't matter. That could be accomplished by each voter voting for every story, or maybe a little over 25 people.

 

It says 45 votes were cast. So at a maximum, 45 people voted. I highly doubt that this was one of the most successful writers contests and even the winner isn't a true winner. There is no way to verify the results.

 

I would like it noted that I am aggressively lobbying the sock vote. I am the most sock-friendly writer on the ballot right now. I have always had a good relationship with socks, and socks can count on me to represent their literary needs.

Not only was I accused of being a sock and a troll I'm well known in the sock community for only wearing free range socks and I always dry my socks on the line in the open air and not confining them in those hellish dryers(sounds like a sock's fate in one of your horror stories).

And if one of a pair vanishes I always allow the remaining sock 7 days to mourn its mate before re-pairing it. I appreciate how they keep my feet warm, especially in winter so I put myself forward as the true friend to the sock community.

Sorry for raining on your post BR but ELP is encouraging promoting one's contest story and this is the only way I know how to.
