oh man, that guy is obviously deranged. killing kids was gruesome, but necessary? no way in hell would murdering innocent people ever be necessary. all i was trying to say about glenn beck though, is that, to him every thing is comparable to either hitler or nazis. nobody should really be taking him or anything he says seriously.

 

And now we even have prominent conservative/Republican Pat Buchanan saying the terrorist was probably right. This guy has worked for Republican presidents and has ran for the presidency himself.

Who is "you guys"? I am not even religious, and I don't even listen to Bill O'reily, I am just trying to help you understand what is being said. No one is doubting this guy is a terrorist, Christian or otherwise. Whoever states that any religion is evil in itself is an idiot. Interpretation of religion by some people is evil. They however do not represent that religion be they Christian, Muslim or otherwise. Religions for the most part preach peace and unity, fundamentalists turn them into violent.

Must be very hard to live with the anxiety level you have, you turn every statement into a political one, even when there is a time for mourning.

First of all I posted this thread to actually discuss the politics involved here and all the disgusting politics involved in it. There are two other threads for discussing and morning this tragedy.

This thread is to expose what people like Glenn Beck are trying to do by either trying to make it part of his personal agenda or deny the implications of just how many similarities there are between the terrorist in Norway and the far right wing christian fundamentalists and extremists in the US.

And so if you don't like that you're on the wrong thread. Because I fully intend to discuss how people from Beck to Buchanan are handling this and the irrational and illogical spins and political gains they hope to get out of it.

Finally I agree that we cannot blaim any religion for the actions of a few extremists and have been fighting those Muslim Bashers over that point since I first got on this forum. And will sure enlist your help the next time they start claiming Islam is an evil religion bent on world domination.

He's already been vindicated by Pat Buchanan and he's actually a pretty well known spokesman for conservative/Republican/Tea Party causes.

And the reason this thread is drifting into a US political argument is because that's what I want to discuss here.

The US political implications, hypocrisy, and prejudice on display with this terrorist incident as opposed to any other terrorist incidence. And the differences are stark and glaring.

Its pretty damn significant when an engrained prejudice can get such huge segments of our news media and outlets to jump to the wrong conclusion.

Or when we see the glaring hypocrisy of the right wing noise machine and its practitioners.

 

Absolutely but not all publicity is good publicity as in this case and besides what's going on here goes way beyond just Beck.

If you'd bother to watch the Stephen Colbert's piece that Kimiko posted you could see just how wide spread the jumping to conclusions are and how convoluted and twisted their defense of that obvious prejudice and bigotry is.

I understand that internet does not show expression, maybe I should have added this a "rolleyes" icon. Absolutely not... .. while I want to see some redulation to immigration, this is not the way to do it. His actions harm everyone, no matter which side of political spectrum you fit in.

 

If he is proven insane as his solicitor is claiming then he should be held indefinitely under mental health legislation, so I guess we won't be seeing him again for a while.
