Once again, the ONLY harm involved is if someone gets preggers, and in that case the child could be genetically fucked up. Use a condom. Don't do vaginal sex. Use the pill. Whatever. DON'T GET FAMILY PREGNANT. That's the only problem with it.

That, and it may be socially awkward later. But that's just a personal thing.

Has anyone heard of the Romanoffs? They thought that family sex was alright. Wed and breed with other family members (1st and 2nd cousins), because they wanted to keep the royal bloodline pure. They didn't allow genetic problems to be breed out of the family and end up with lots of problems. No, family sex is not the best. Its wrong. I'm tired of the Adam & Eve excuse, too. God, flooded the earth and killed most of the children of Adam and Eve because they were morally depraved. One of the seven laws God gives Noah after the flood is against sexual immorality, and it lists insest as one of the sexual immoralities. Once the the families were divided they were not to breed among themselves, but with the children of the other tribes. Unless your the mountain men of Virginia, we live in a time where meeting people is easier now than ever. Go meet some new people.

I worked with a guy from Egypt who had three daughters.
He had every intention to bring them back there and offer them to his brothers and cousins as wives when they were old enough.
In his opinion it would be a disgrace to have a daughter marry outside the family.

 

This brings up a good point. All different cultures have different beliefs. We shouldn't knock them because their beliefs do not follow our own. Sure, it may disgust you or repulse you, but you have to see both sides. Other people may look at us in the same way because, as said above, it would be a disgrace to marry/have sex outside of the family. Am I saying its right or wrong? No. I am merely pointing out that everyone has their own beliefs and shouldn't be judged as such.

In their eyes they are right, in ours we are right, and by these standards, technically no one is right.

 

The excuse for genetic defects only holds true if you remix the same gene pool for many generations.
People have been inbreeding animals for years to enhance certain traits, we are not all that different than that cow that has been bred to give more milk than a normal calf would be able to consume. Or all of the pedigree dogs and cats that we so treasure.
It is more of a social taboo than anything else.

 

Chagrin has made some really good points here. The religious references that keep getting brought up are simply religious dogma that you will either subscribe to or you won’t. Do any research into genetics and/or evolution and it’s really clear that incestuous childbearing weakens the child genetically. Recessive and/or mutated genes responsible for negative characteristics have a much higher probability of manifesting and spreading in a smaller gene pool.

 

I don't condim these people, if it their thing let them do it, just don't have kids. Its that i'm tired of them saying Adam and Eve comitted insest so its right.
