The excessive salaries of CEOs are derived from the excessive profits that companies make. Profits obtained from overcharging for shoddy products, avoiding taxes, underpaying employees and scamming stock holders. These are the attributes of a successful CEO. Why do we keep rewarding our business leaders for unscrupulous behavior?

Because we've made profit and economic growth our Gods and greed has become our religion. We call this religion Capitalism and we've sacrificed our morality, ethics and humanity to satisfy its insatiable hunger for more and more profit.

Now that our society is in trouble we turn to these same Gods to rescue us.

I am not saying the police do not earn their money, it is a difficult and dangerous job sometimes, but a soldiers job is far more dangerous, plus he spends a good deal of his time away from home, when he is at his home base he still spends time away training and yet he gets 6.000 less in his wages.
