I can feel your pain,even i survived a bomb attack that happened in Delhi few days ago.

Ah well, I wasn't anywhere near where it happened. I was actually on the other side of the country. Still, seeing a plane fly into a building does things to a kid, I was only 13.

I heard on the news today that in honor of the 10th anniversary American Airlines is offering new deal. They’ll fly you straight from the airport into the office. :laughing:

The image is still strong with me .... I was standing in the lobby of the hotel I worked at the time, yes in Edmonton; watching the 1st tower burn when we saw the second plane hit.... It hit me right then and there that this was no accident.

MY sister in law, a nurse watched and turned away as that man jumped trying to use his coat to save his life... she could not watch it.... a nurse yet?

The loss of innocent lives always pisses me off .... THERE IS NO NEED.

 

I was working for a German firm that made architectural hardware here in the US.

One of the secretaries across the hall had CNN on her computer, and we all crowded around to watch it, since she was one of the few in the building with a color monitor and video access.

Our US division president was supposed to meet with a major client there that day. Some believed he was one of the jumpers. We watched the towers fall, heard about the other planes, and knew we were at war, in some form.

No, it wasn't the single biggest loss of life ever. But it was an attack by an enemy we didn't understand at all, and it happened in our largest city and in our nation's capitol.

That sort of thing changes lives.

Sure, the media love this kind of thing. But maybe it's good to remember the anger, the grief, and the temporary rebuilding of our national spirit.

Just sort of thinking out loud here. No one has to agree with me.

 

I'll remember with respect all those who died 10 years ago.

That's the problem with war. It isn't just fighters against fighters, men and women trained and paid to put their lives on the line to defend a country or to advance a political agenda. It's all the civilians. It's been going on for all of recorded history. We supposedly have "rules" and "protocols" to fight a war, but the gravest losses are often to people who are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

 

This is a very good point.

I guess the issue is that it's perceived as some beginning of an attack on America? Is it about remembering the dead these days or a self pity patriotism thing these days?

I know the death toll in England when we were hit by these attacks wasn't nearly as high and maybe it's just the mentality over here but we dot bang on about it so much. I know we are a stubborn bunch, but that's what gives a country of our size the recognition it gets, but we are kinda of the mind to jet "get on with it".

 

There is just no need for that.

Yes they MAY well bang in about it a lot. But, there's a difference between having a reasonable debate and/or questioning why and being downright thoughtless when like it or not it DID happen an many innocent people died.

I hope for your own sake you are just a young naive kid with lots to learn. Some of us have seen far more than we want to for one life.

 

Liars, cheaters, abusers, rapists, child molesters, murderers, thieves, prostitutes, drug dealers, druggies. I would bet every single person working in those towers fits into one (or more) of those categories. In every day life you would spew words of disgust and how bad these people are. How ever, let something bad happen to these people, let them die; and suddenly they all become innocent?

 

Now you're just being plain dumb. Everyone lies, now that's a fact. As for the rest of your list I imagine the vast majority of them don't tick those off.

I think you have issues. No one said they were innocent of never making a bad judgement or tellig a lie in their lives, but that doesn't make them any less innocent, do you not understand?
