I know that 49'ers number doesn't make their fans happy but since they are in the NFC where the road to the Superbowl goes through Green Bay by the looks of things, they still would need to make it out of their division to make the Superbowl .......... sorry.

Past performance is also a determining factor in book odds. 2002 was the last time they did anything of note as far as play-offs. That was the year that Jeff Garcia (formerly with my Calgary Stampeders) engineered that great comeback against the Giants.

 

At this point, the 49ers are nailed on for the NFC West and will very probably have a first round bye plus home-field in the second round ... so it's basically 13/1 against them winning in Green Bay and then again in the Superbowl.

Those are generous odds.

 

Agreed, I wanted to raise their odds but it's not in the cards. Good year yes, choke artists yes. Superbowl champions ........ the jury is still out.

With those odds though, a lot of people will bite and it is like taking candy from a baby.

Consider that the 9ers have already run through the tougher part of their schedule and came out 7-1. They've only played any their woeful division rivals once. (combined record of the remaining opponents - 26-39) They may have trouble with the Giants this weekend (and will certainly be tested by the Ravens and the Steelers), but if they win one of those 3 and put the beatdown on their division rivals, they're likely to end up 12-4 or even 13-3.

They haven't had a defense this composed and healthy in a long time, they haven't had an offensive line do it's job this well in quite some time - 13-1 odds sound fairly juicy to me. :excited:

 

Yeah I had no idea about that either.

I said the Raiders would win before the game based on the fact that the Chargers can get run on and Palmer is a damn good QB at times, but I honestly was shaky about it.

The colts are playing tough against the Jags and are tied 3 - 3 in the 3rd, they better be careful or they might win one.

That number doesn't bother me. Im excited as hell we one of top teams in NFL but im also realistic that the niners are not proven yet, have tough road to superbowl and while we may have a great game manager in alex smith, engineered 3 comeback wins...he's not exactly elite but I am hoping he can step up when the game required him to like the game winning td in detroit.

As for upsets, I believe Ponder has good chance to upset the Packers tmr night. As long as he keep converting those 3rd downs he should be able to handle his game. As for whether vikings D can contain Rodgers...that remain to be seen
