All they had to do was beat the Chargers and they couldn't even do that at home in Oakland.

I gave up and went to bed at Cincy 7-7 Houston late in the first half. (Any have any tips on how to cope with a normal sleeping pattern of going to bed around 10-11pm and waking up at 8am? I'm not used to it!)

Much kudos to Houston, I didn't think they would do anything in the playoffs with a rookie at QB. Of course, they've ruined my entire prediction setup because even if Pittsburgh do win tonight, they won't be going to Baltimore, they'll be going to New England.... I don't see Houston getting past the Ravens, but since they got past Cincy I'm not going to predict them getting slaughtered, as I would have done last week.

I picked NE to beat Pittsburgh in the Championship game, but I'm actually less confident about them doing so in the divisional round. I fancy the Steelers to bag an upset there. Don't know why.

 

Well, yesterday was an f'n waste, with Houston and N.O. winning

Houston surprised a lot of people yesterday with that lopsided win and will play the Ravens tough but like I said earlier, don't underestimate the Ravens.

I would shit if Denver were to even stay with Pittsburgh let alone beat them ... but lets see if they can bring their A game.

Atlanta over the Giants but it is pretty much a moot point since the winner plays GB next week.

 

The Pats have had a weak defense all year. Their safeties are too green, and their defenders always seem to be trailing the wide receivers by three or four steps. The Pats' offense is pretty much unstoppable, but they do have to give up the ball once or twice a quarter, if only for post-score kickoffs.

I do not think they can beat Green Bay, or even the Saints (I saw a bit of the game last night, and the Saints just rolled over Detroit), but hopefully they'll go down fighting.

 

That's always been the law in the NFL; a great offense will carry a dodgy defense INTO the playoffs but it can't stand up against the best teams once you're there. (The 49ers, in their pomp and glory, had the league's number one offense about 11 years in a row - the only five times they won the Superbowl, though, where when they also had one of the top three defenses.)

Some people are arguing that the game has tipped so far in favour of the offense, it's no longer true. I'm not so sure; I think the Pats will struggle against the Steelers, and I don't see how they could possibly beat the Saints or Packers - equally good offensive teams with better defenses.
