  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    I sure do, do you?

Or are you trying to make some kind of statement about double standards?

Do you know the difference between an act in a declared war and an act of terrorism?

Yes but was the use of nuclear weapons justified..... secondly the amount of innocent people getting killed in both Japan and after 911 speaks volumes, and that leads to more enimity and hostile attitude towards the americans.

True, but they attacked with conventional weapons, and "we" were losing... so we used weapons of mass destruction to destroy that nation....

I just hope you're not old enough to vote, because if you are, I'm really scared.

Your ignorance of history and inability to distinguish between acts of terrorism and warfare is frightening.

Japan was not 'destroyed' and lives that would have been lost in a conventional invasion were saved (on both sides). It could be argued that Germany suffered far more than Japan but I guess that the firestorms of Dresden and Hamburg don't count as they were only the consequence of conventional bombing.

You are living proof that 'a little knowledge is a dangerous thing', only in your case that would imply you have a brain.

Comparison between 9/11 and Hiroshima or Nagasaki.

In WWII Truman had a choice; extend the war, count on 100,000 deaths invading the Japanese homeland, countless more deaths of Japanese soldiers and civilians. Or, use a new "super bomb" that had only been tested once, knowing it could wipe a city off the planet and end the war quickly. It would save American lives, not Japanese but Truman invited the Japanese to see the bomb tested; he warned them and they ignored him.

In my mind, no real choice; use the weapon at your disposal to minimize loss of your troops and material. Harsh, I know, but remember Nanking? Japans invasion of China? The undeclared war when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor?

9/11 was an act of war; Osama had declared war on the U.S. but no one listened; I mean, some whack job in the desert declaring war on the US? But we didn't pay attention even when he hit our emassies, our troop barracks and our ships in Yemen. All that ass Clinton did was lob a few expensive missles into the desert and go back to his intern. He didn't put the same value on American lives or interests that he did on a blow job.

9/11 was what we got for our inattention. It was indeed a horrible day, just like Pearl Harbor, just like WWII.

That's where the comparison ends. Fact is, despite the cost we're winning. Islam has a bad rap to live down and our lives are forever changed. I hope we don't forget, or forgive.

And to all those wanna be Osamas? Step up; we'll accommodate you. And to all those who support the Osmas? Step up. We'll accommodate.

started of logically and i agreed with you

but you cant win the war on terror
you will have to talk to the terrorist in the end to achieve Peace
and you need to distinguish between Islam and a load of power crazed men who use it for the own political ends

look at the Christian fundamentalists in the USA

If the American military invaded Japan, the loss of life in terms of military and civilian casualties would have dwarfed the deaths in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The bombings of Tokyo in 1945 killed more people than Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined, but it was the obliteration of Hiroshima and Nagasaki that convinced Japan to surrender.

Do you remember the Rape of Nanking?
You know, where the Japanese military slaughtered 300,000 innocent Chinese civilians and POWs?

The war on terror has been going on for 10 years, there has not been another successful terrorist attack on the US since then, almost all such attacks are now confined to the Middle Eastern states where the terrorist is getting his support.

So tell me again how we cannot win the war on terror. Our objectives are not to take over and occupy a country, we learned not to do that in Iraq and to a point in Afghanistan.

Well that's actually bullshit for the weak minded because it makes them feel better.

But we've had several successful terrorist attacks since 9/11 including the Beltway sniper attacks, Fort Hood shootings, and the Tuscon shootings.

We've also had near misses by people who slipped past our security but their bombs didn't go off. You can't claim those were successfully stopped attempts if the only reason the bombs didn't go off was because they were junk or the perpetrators stupid. That's just blind luck. And I don't think we should count on that

I'm not sure I even want to go into this again but after watching The World At War I've changed my mind about why the bombs were dropped and if they were necessary or not which I don't believe they were.

There were a lot of other motivations at stake in the decisions to drop the bombs than just avoiding invasion of the Japanese Mainland. And a little more time would have resulted in Japan's surrender. Especially if they were allowed to keep their Emperor which they ended up doing anyway.

Hindsight is 20/20, but what was Japan doing attacking us in the first place? They shouldn't have allied themselves with Hitler.

I do not dispute that at all. In fact Japan striking the US was one of the worst things they could have done because no matter what he did FDR could not convince the American Public we needed to go to war against Germany or Japan. And if Japan had not attacked Pearl Harbor Americans might have stayed out of the war until it was too late.

But on the other hand when I once thought dropping the atomic bombs was a pretty easy and practical decision I no longer believe that and actually wonder if it was even necessary.

I don't accept hypothetical arguments. The bombs were dropped. We did it. It was pretty shitty but the war ended.

I think we can all agree that WW2 was a complete nightmare.
