Can you wrap your mind around a time scale that vast?

Do you think humans will still be around?

How about 4 Million years?

Just shoot out ideas.

 

In 50 thousand years, 'humans' may look vastly different than we do now, assuming we haven't nuked ourselves out of extinction, and assuming again that some random extinction level event a la giant meteor/comet or what have you doesn't completely wipe us out.

4 million years from now? I would argue that our descendants wouldn't even be human. They'd be something else.

 

I don't think we'll make it a thousand years on Earth. Humans are already working toward killing each other. The Israeli/Pakistani conflict is escalating, the economy is in the crapper still, joblessness is on the rise.

I wonder if humans will discover technology that allows us to escape this planet before we annihilate each other. I wouldn't mind having a replicator and being able to transport from place to place instead of physically traveling. Space travel certainly has its perks too.

 

There is one thing pretty certain: If there is any life left, there will be cockroaches. They are even immune to radiation.

 

Is there something you are forgetting to tell us that might lead you to that conclusion , lol ?????

If we survive the next 1000 years, chances are technology would be so advanced we could deal with anything.

The next 150 years will be the greatest struggle. We will have to be able to survive any superviruses, asteroids, nuclear disasters, if we can do that during that time technology will be well on the way to being able to deal with anything nature can throw at us. 1000 years time we will become immortal.

 

We could all be gone in the next second.

Our existence is nothing in the scope of the universe. A mere speck in an unfathomable space. One hiccup in our sun and we are toast, our existence will likely be extinguished by an event that is totally out of our control, with little or no advanced notice.

 

As I am immortal I will be still here.

I've thought about this myself a few times actually.

I think we'll still be around. probably the scourge of the galaxy by then. Fighting an intergalactic war against the 'kzkzdkhzzzjzz' people (it's unpronouncable in our tongue, but the welsh can manage it)

I remember seeing that scene in Planet of the Ape's and I had a sinking feeling in my stomach when I saw the Statue of Liberty buried like that .

Kind of reminds me of a few of the scenes in the film A.I. Artificial Intelligence . I remember viewing the teddy bear at the Science fiction and Hall of Fame in Seattle Washington .
