If you do not personally like a team, their fans "fanatics" are assholes......to YOU. What they really are, are over the top enthusiasts for their team, whether the team is on top, in the middle of the pack or on the bottom. They cheer, they scream, they deride the other team (yours?). That's the way it goes.

I don't like the Red Sox, but I appreciate that their fans love them; I don't like the Phillies, but I appreciate that their fans (except for the 2.5 million "frontrunners" who have crawled out of the woodwork the past 3 years) love them....

Funny thing is that most Yankee fans were hoping us Re Sox fans were heartbroken over the collapse, not all...........it was a sucky team at the end of the season.

Many Yankee fans want to rewrite history by playing the Sox's again and having the Sox's fall apart like the Yankee's did in 04'............they were denied this that opportunity.

I have dealt with Yankee fans while watching the Pats play in Miami.........I still can't believe just how far some of these guys take things........

So just so people know............the biggest choke in all of pro sports happened when the 04' loss a series after being up 3-0, which no team had ever done in 100 years of baseball..................also, no other team in baseball history has lost more wordls series than the New York Yankees.

They have their successes, no doubt. But is that success in-line with their ridiculous payrolls? I mean, who wouldn't win once in a while with the dough they throw around (mostly throw away)?

There is real beauty in seeing Tampa edge out the sox for the wild card spot, with only a quarter of the payroll. There is art in winning an unfair sport, and the sox meltdown and failure brings glee to many baseball fans around the country.

Come on...! these playoff teams; Arizona, Tampa, and Milwaukee, have a combined payroll of the sox, and considerably less than the phils or yanks. I am really pulling for the Tigers to take out the yanks. Then we will be rid of these three over-payed, over-emphasized spoiled brats.

They're bigger, and on top of that they're not planned like Philly, which was designed to be like London.

Your town has 2,000,000 or so people if you include the entire metro area (which of course includes much more than what is actually even remotely considered Pittsburgh). Philly, if you do the same thing.. has 4,000,000 plus, and there are 2,000,000 people between Delco and Philly alone. The Delaware Valley, which is the REAL measure of Philly, has almost 7 million people in it.

We're a major part of every single important piece of culture, history, education, economy, etc etc and always will be. On top of that, even though unlike NYC and LA, we're surrounded by MAJOR cities like NYC, like Baltimore, like Camden, like Wilmington, etc etc, we're still a major city with our own identity and always have been. Furthermore, cities like Camden and Wilmington and Allentown and so on and so forth are fully influenced by Southeastern PA and especially by Philly. You could argue that we've influenced more major cities than that in fact.

You're the capital of Appalachia and that's it, Jethro.
