first off, no one is exactly sure what an IQ is suppose to measure so the use of it in statistics should be taken with a grain of salt.

further more your I.Q. is as about as hereditary as your paycheck. In that, the dominating factor of your I.Q. is what income bracket you are in. The fact that on avenger black people have a lower I.Q. is because they are overall poorer, and not the amount of Melanin they have.

and lastly when it comes down to IQ and poverty. "the chicken or the egg" issue has yet to be addressed. are people poor because they have a low IQ, or do they have a low IQ because they are poor?

in short I can out right deny the heritability of an IQ. At least until evidence is found to prove the contrary.

Racism is a natural defense mechanism. Im not saying that its a good thing but it is a part of everyone. If a person enters into your community and does not look like the rest of you, it is natural to be suspicious of the new-comer. As advanced as we are today; its our reponsibility to push those thoughts aside.

And that evidence is a little hard to come by, given that we really don't even know what we mean by "intelligence", much less how to directly measure it without introducing lots of other variables. And if we DO somehow succeed in measuring it, we then have to figure out where it came from, and how it was influenced by everything from heredity to socioeconomic status to the phase of the moon.

Depends on what you count as racism. If you include people calling me "slant-eye" or vague references to "japs", or implying that the U.S. should have finished what it started in Hiroshima and Nagasaki...then yes, I've heard all of those at one time or another.

But if you mean overt discrimination, I don't think I've ever had to deal with that. My grandparents, however, were herded into an internment camp during WW II, and I definitely think that counts.

Are all men truly equal on all counts? Clearly not; due to evolutionary pathways, various ethnic and racial groups consistently out-perform others at certain activities, from the 100m sprint to complex mathematics.

We've come to a point in our development as humankind where we can pigeon-hole races in a positive manner without incurring accusations of racism - 'Black people are better track athletes.' for example, yet we are still unable to make dispassionate statements about a certain ethnic or racial groups inferiority at a certain subject or activity when in relation to others.

Perhaps blacks are genetically predisposed to be less intelligent. If this is true - and there seems to be plenty of reasonable evidence to suggest it might be and, try as I might, I have never really found anyone on this forum who has proved themselves capable of actually disproving this hypothesis - though they've tried everything, from abuse to semantics - then there should still not be a question of 'how to treat them'.

It is not racist to make informed statements about racial or ethnic traits, so long as one can back them up. It is what happens next - how you choose to treat them based on these revelations - that decides whether you are a racist.

As a point of interest, could someone point me to a post where someone has actually refuted DistantLover's arguments in a concise, logical fashion, complete with sources and citations that prove beyond reasonable doubt that DL's thesis is wrong?

 

Even before reading your last paragraph I was impressed by your comment. stumbler has pointed out that differences between the races are less than differences within the races, and that there is considerable overlap between the races. This is why legally sanctified segregation is unjust and dysfunctional in a society that needs for talent to be recognized and cultivated regardless of the source.
