They certainly should. And some of the leaders on the left are doing so. Those on the right are dismissing them as vagrants and bums...what should we conclude from that?

 

And they should be. Wall Street is exhibiting classic addictive behavior...they don't want their ability to screw up the financial markets to be taken away from them by regulators, even if it would save them from themselves.

 

Thank you...but what YOU don't seem to get is that there are TWO criminals in a bribery scandal...the one being bribed, and the one doing the bribing.

If you get the money out of politics, politicians will begin to act in the public interest.

But Kimi my dear; bribery is a crime, the current political contributions laws are not being broken, therefore the contributors are not guilty of anything.

However, the laws that permit them to contribute are written by those who receive the funds. This is a violation of the most conservative ethical standards at least and might be a criminal offense at worse.

Now how do we get the practiced changed, by telling someone that we don't like the fact that they are doing something within the law, and asking them to stop?

Or do we change the people who write the laws, charging the newbies with the task of rewriting the laws to prohibit such contributions in the future?

IMO, the second option is the only realistic one. On top of potentially correcting this problem, we also have the opportunity to right many other wrongs, including things such as the tax code.

 

And what should we conclude from House Majority Leader Eric Cantor going from calling them a mob to all of a sudden claiming Republicans are well aware of income inequality and are fixin' to fix that problem right away?

I also have to chuckle at people who think they've got this all figured out when I bet they simply over look the fact that if you or someone on your behalf has put together a professionally slick ad and are getting ready to run it on national TV they are not alone and not penniless. They'd simply assume that they're all liberals supporting other liberals and miss the significance of Naomi Wolf getting arrested outside the Huffington Post "Game Changer Awards." And it would never cross their minds that just because politicians of all stripes might want to cotton to them the feeling is not necessarily mutual.

But you betcha they got it all figured out all ready.

Me, I don't think there's anyway to predict what people are going to do next if they don't really know themselves.

And I think that's got the right pretty worried right now. I mean its never made any sense to have an entire party dedicated to serving the interests of the top 1% and get away with it. Not in the information age anyway.

Umm... Yeah, there is an attempt to talk being made by the democrats. You know, the problem is the hypocrisy in having having Wall Street keeping their lavishly funded politicians in power. Well, another issue is that the attempt to talk looks like an attempt to gain 2012 votes only.

While I'm willing to say that some Democrats are in the pocket of Wall Street, only a complete fool would be unable to discern the difference between the two major parties. I may be disappointed in the Democrats, but I'm appalled by the Republicans. All one has to do is listen to any of the current debates between Republican candidates, and ask yourself, "who do they have compassion for"? The answer, it seems, is nobody. Nobody except the top 1%.

Welfare is abused, there are freeloaders taking advantage of the system, frivolous consumer spending, credit was really easy to get once which encouraged frivolous consumer spending, people making $10 per hour were buying $500,000 homes because of crazy lending policies, there were scandals in Congress and corporations, corruption yada yada yada the unethical of everybody on the entire socioeconomic scale is to blame.
