its about money, thats all the permit is for. the constitution says nothing about applying for a permit or any other fee grabbing bullshit. they only create these laws because they know in order to protest you will break them

The reasons for the laws are crystal clear, only those trying to circumvent the laws find them to be restrictive.

Once again, how do these regulations prohibit your right to protest? You have not answered that very simple question.

That seems strange to me. Only 47% of people responding to a Fox News Poll are concerned the Occupy Protests will result in street riots.

But it appears the Occupy Wall Street/99%er protests continue to gain support.

I have not been following OWS lately... the newspapers that I read classify the "movement" as pointless nonsense and generally do not cover it....

However I have heard an anecdotal account that OWS protestors in Richmond, VA have been acting like hooligans for a couple weeks now, and have been running up a huge municipal tab for police details, liability, cleanup, and so forth, none of which they have been paying for.

Richmond, VA charged the Tea Party approximately $10,000 for a one day demonstration, and the Tea Party paid it.

Now the Tea Party is suing, either to force Richmond to charge OWS $10,000 per day for their hooliganism, or for Richmond to refund the ten grand in paid fees!

Good for the Tea Party!

I'm also kind of surprised by the sustained Occupy Wall Street protests that are taking place in Nashville Tennessee. That doesn't seem like a liberal hotspot to me but apparently they are arresting protesters in Nashville, turning them loose again, just so they can go out and get arrested again.

That's got to be a very taxing revolving door.

You seem to think that the CWS movement is a liberal one, how come? I think that the movement is right in their protests but I do think they are targeting the wrong places, perhaps with the exception of Nashville, where they are actually protesting at the capitol buildings.

However, these folks need to respect the laws and the rights of private property owners. If they get arrested for flaunting the laws, they should be expecting it. If they are really wanting the laws changed, then peaceful demonstrations and civil disobedience is justified. If they are just out to demonstrate against something, they deserve what they get.

The right will challenge it and almost certainly win, because the sole reason for its existence is political action. This is why MoveOn.org has two organizations- one for political action, and another for fund raising.

Some organizations can get away with dual-incorporations, as MoveOn does, because they have a legitimate educational component.

OWS does not. They're just a bunch of morons.

If it plays out this way, and the OWS petition for non-profit status is struck down, that will set the precedent that we need to finally shut down all these thinly veiled PAC-like organizations, such as MoveOn and ACORN.

All of this crap has to stop.

And yes, the "right" side bullshit, too. If Stumbler's boogeyman, ALEC, is also a 501(c)(3), I want their wings clipped, too.

 

Then again, my bet is that all OWS will do is talk about it.

If they register as a 501(c)(3), then they will need to file 990's with every State Treasurer, in every jurisdiction, in which they conduct fund raising and/or protest rallies.

The 990 filings would list their officers, cost centers, revenue generation, vendors, and top funding sources.

Do we really think these scumbags want to tell the world, in black and white, that Soros owns their sorry asses?

Elizabeth Warren claims to have developed the foundation tenets of OWS. (If this is true, Al Gore invented the Internet.) She apparently thinks this will resonate with Massachuetts voters and allow her to take Ted Kennedy's senate seat back from the current RINO who's sitting in it. Good luck to her. Scott Brown's managed to piss off about 90% of the people who voted for him, so she just might pull it off, in spite of her idiocy.

Interesting point about all this fundraising OWS has been doing: I've only heard this by word of mouth, and I could be wrong, but I think they are running credit card donations through Capital One. As in, one of the 1%. As in, one of the evil corporations against which they are supposedly protesting.

ALEC has all the necessities to maintain that status.

ALEC is only dangerous to the left, they are for advocating everything that the left is against.

 

If ALEC has a legitimate and substantive cost center devoted to either education or charitable work, I have no problem with their tax-exempt status.

But lobbying groups and PACS should have the rug pulled out from under them. I want ACORN shut down, and I'd be willing to see ALEC get caught in the cross-fire, if that is what it takes.
