Detroit took the regular season series 6 - 3 against the Rangers and coincidently they are the only 2 teams to play over .700 ball in September when it really counted, they are both on a roll and will make this a hard fought series worthy of watching just for that.

If Detroit's big guns find their bat's more then they did(n't) in the first round, they will be hard to beat. Guys like Cabrera and Martinez need to step up to keep this thing honest.

As far as pitching goes, I give the nod to Detroit personally.

Footnote: Detroit took out the Yankee's and the most powerful offense in baseball (of any in the playoffs) in their house as they did in 2006 when they went to the world series.

PS .......... I hate the fucking Rangers.

And Oswalt, and Polanco. Thank God Lidge wasn't pitching or he would've given up another monster shot to Pujols.

You definitely have to feel for Polanco, losing to the Cards twice in the playoffs, once when his team was supposed to win the WS.

I'm rooting for either the Rays or the Brewers. Haven't decided which one yet.

Wow ......... Texas just went crazy in the top of the 11th against Detroit with an RBI and a 3 run homer and broke it wide open with only one out so far. 7 - 3 Texas right now.

Edit: Bottom of the 11th right now.

It's incredible how things get done on a slow news day, case in point ........ the Boston Red Sox. There is a story coming over the wire that shows that they had more of a frat house then a club house and that various players were more interested in drinking and playing video games then to take their jobs seriously and actually put 100% into baseball.

Sure some of the pitchers on Boston's team had unusually high ERA's and those are the same ones under the gun right now.

Any Boston fan's have a comment as to whether or not this is as real as the media is making it out to be. Also they allege that one of the managers was more consumed with a bad marriage and use of pain killers then his job with the team. Regardless, they missed the playoffs due only to their own doing and were right in it ........ until they weren't.

First off, I am rooting fo the Tigers, but it looks grim after last night!

As for the SOx, they are indeed in a world of hurt. The same clubhouse atmosphere that spaawned the loveable "idiots" in 04, has come to this now!
It seems they are a bunch of overpaid whining prima donnas. They need to get someone in there to kick some ass. I was never a huge believer in "chemistry", but after this Septemeber, I believe it holds a little more clout than I originally thought.
Don't know if you are a Sox fna JPT, but if you are, then yo know that is what we do here...break down everty last tiny move the team makes and second guess it. I feel Tito was forced out by ownership who wants to coddle their big stars. Rumor has it he will wind up with Theo again in Chicago. That would be interesting.
I think it will be a very interesting off season in New England...the hot stove will be cranking all winter!
Oh yeah, to answer the question directly, yes I think there are REAL problems with the Sox.

I don't cheer for the Sox but do not dislike them either but it is always good to get the perspective from someone close to the problem as is anyone that is from Mass.

As for Detroit ........... their bats came to life here in the 6th and with Young belting a 2 run shot out of the park, a 6 - 2 lead in the 7th doesn't look to bad. Can't forget about the Texas massacre last night though in extra innings, so this one isn't over yet but game 6 looks likely.

Edit: I think the bleachers have a string attached to the ball ......... Detroit just knocked another one out of the park in the 7th.

Looks like a home run derby going on here now .......... Texas just sent a 2 run shot out of the park and I think it actually landed on the Canadian side of the border.:excited: 7 - 4 Detroit in the 8th.

That was a good one about Cliff Lee's wife.

You would have to be an idiot to think there is no traffic in Philly (and you'd have to be as big an idiot to marry one).

Looks like the first game of the World Series is a wash so far.

I still don't agree with the Cardinals getting home field advantage just because the NL won the All Star game.

The Cardinals do have a distinguished career though and are no strangers to the World Series, having won it 10 times and most recently in 2006.

I should be a Texas Rangers fan, having connections to Texas but I hate the Rangers.:excited: Especially since they are the reason why the Dallas Stars don't fill up the arena for NHL games.(bankruptcy doesn't help either though)
