Also 99% of places here in America only test for the big 3 (aids, gonorrhea, syphilis) and that is it, they usually just let a visual exam suffice for HPV or herpes. Which is useless since most people with hpv have no symptoms at all. You specifically have to ask for the blood tests required to detect HPV and herpes.

The scary thing about HPV is that there are over 120 different strains and most of the population has at least one strain without even being aware of it. Also just because you have one strain doesn't make you immune to the other strains, and just because you have no more out breaks doesnt mean you dont still have the HPV and are still passing it around.

Well, here in the SF Bay Area, for the clubs I refer to, you must produce a complete clean sheet - including blood tests for HIV, gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, BV, genital herpes and HPV. Fail on any one and you can't play - fail to get tested for any one and you can't play - it's that simple.

The reason for the time frame of 2 weeks is that some of those tests take that about 10 days to come back. But, as with any other form of human sexual behavior, there is always an element of risk - nothing you can do sexually is 100% risk-free except abstinence (but that's not really sex, is it?)

 

Well after learning everything science has to offer so far on HPV, I would rather have the abstinence. HPV is scary stuff, especially for women as its the number one cause of cervical cancer.

I need to correct my self here because it appears I gave iut the wrong information without being aware of it.

Currently there is NO blood test to diagnose HPV. Only a visual test is used in doing so, and since some HPV causes no or microscopic symptoms more then half the people infected with never know but will continue to be passing it around to everyone they have skin to skin contact with.

If you are already diagnosed with HPV they can take tissue samples and break them down to a molecular level to attempt to determine which of the 120 strains you have.

Also the vaccines only prevent against 4 strains and are useless against that strain if you are already carrying one or more of the types it guards against.

So after all that... Yeah I will take the abstinence!
