Personally?..I think it's a lot of bollocks. I,m going to learn things from people who were that dumb the only way they can survive is by being an athlete?....and then to find out they were on drugs?...find out they are the most pig-ignorant people you could hope to meet.
And when their career is finished?...their bodies fucked,.....sitting in a bar reliving the glory days?....

Hmmmmmmm, I read through this twice, trying to give it a fair chance :-| Sorry, but I find it to be pure BS - chock full of over-stretched analogies, contradictions, irrelevant jargon and useless quasi-advice. I was going to refute almost every point this so-called writer is trying to make, but it would so easy, it doesn't even sound like fun.

I do agree though, that a lot of it seemed to be trying to give business people credit for doing the same things athletes do when the fact is that they're not even remotely on that level.

They can learn a ton of things from athletes, as can most people. There's a reason why they do what they do and it's not because they're dumb (most of them aren't). I'd like to see the people calling them dumb memorize playbooks or learn how to read a defense in basketball or a Cover 2 in football or any of those things.


And yeah, that was a pretty pathetic post made by Kimiko.

 

What's to know? you don't have to be smart to memorize things.....Dogs do that...so do monkeys.

 

I'm not sure we agree much at all There are lots of "business people" who try to be athletes on the weekend - turning ankles in pickup games of basketball, etc. but there is an equally long list of athletes who went into business for themselves and failed miserably - shredding the fortunes they earned in much less time than it took to make.

My point was that almost every claim in that article is pure hokum - the two disciplines are so disparate, the skill sets required are so far removed from one another, that to try and draw them together by comparison is silly (and frankly, insulting to both parties). It was pure fluff, the writer was just making shit up as he went along, and if any business person took the advice seriously and tried to apply it, I would predict quick and catastrophic failure. :-|
