Fur pie? Hair pie? I think I will try and make one of those chess pies. I just looked it up... 3/4 cup sugar, flour, six eggs, a stick of butter and a cup of buttermilk in a 9 inch pie crust... bake at 350° for 40 minutes. The recipe I found says to serve it with black coffee.

A respectful suggestion

May I suggest that the name on this thread is changed to something which will have some meaning to readers outside the inner circle. CAW 9 means nothing unless you know what it means. I suspect it is a put-off to readers and writers alike.

Writers Challenge maybe.

 

Hmmm we turned it into alphabet soup and didn't think too hard on it... though Calling All Writers was getting a bit cumbersome to write for some... But perhaps we would do better to stick to the proper name.

 

I think everyone, by now, knows what CAW stands for. If someone wins the Pulitzer Prize I don't hear a lot of people asking what Pulitzer means (Not that a CAW challenge is even close to a Pulitzer Prize). And what is the inner circle? Just the writers? Just some inner core of writers? Everyone on the XNXX forums? Am I in the circle or outside the circle? Things to ponder...

An inner circle sounds cliquey. Maybe the older players are included and it goes by join date or something? Hmmm, is it the hokey pokey?

I have to admit that I was totally unaware of what CAW 9 was until I got a PM from ejls who kindly helped me to understand it better. I know what it means now of course, but I had no idea at first.

 

I never thought about it either.

Apparently, you're not the only one, considering some of the things people have said to me lately.

Not to be too stuffy about it, but maybe we should revert back to calling it by it's original name, "Calling All Writers." Or maybe it would make sense to call it the "Writer's Challenge" or "Story Challenge."

It IS fine the way it is. It's just a shame that a new reader on the forums might not immediately gravitate toward it. Think about it. Are a lot of noobs going to click on a thread that might be a story about a noisy crow?

Maybe just change the name of the thread? We can still call it CAW in our posts, and in our story titles etc. But if the thread was called "CAW Writing Competition #9 -- The Poll" for example, it may be more immediately obvious what it's about.

 

Each OP has the option of how they title their challenge. My original threads were spelled out Calling All Writers, then Calling All Writers Chapter 2. The original polls were titled Calling All Readers.

I like the idea of keeping things in the spirit of how they began, as much as is humanly possible of course. CAW isn't too descriptive of a term especially if someone is new to the site.

Both ends of the challenge should "call all writers and readers" and let them know that new stories will be available by the deadline, then when the stories are up you hold their attention once more, more or less.

Then again, what do I know. I'm just an orange kitty.

That would let everyone know what's going on and not change the established themes... whomever hosts it.

I'm sure there are hundreds of people who peruse these threads and don't make their voices heard. The view count for this thread is 2,472 and there are 78 posts so that's about 32 views per post. Right there, we see unrealized potential. Is there a way we can encourage the silent majority to participate?

There are so many good stories in here and mine would have been dumb.

I don't understand the voting. Everyone is voting for one story and there are a bunch of others that are good to. I havent gotten to the one that is getting all the votes yet. How good must that one be?

Why didn't wantsomefun submit his? Is it a rule that a winner can't enter any more contests? I read his cuz of the link in his signature. Hot sex and a tender story to. <3

WSF didn't submit because he chose not to... because running the contest... is something that most don't want to repeat immediately though a few have... Its a elegant way of saying I'll participate but I'm not going to do this again yet.
