Quite a few men, and some women have come forward and reported that when they were minors they were coerced into having sex with adults. I have never read of a man who complained that when he was under eighteen he was coerced into having sex with a woman.

Most men and teenage boys enjoy casual sex. Most women and teenage girls do not. That is why if a man has sex with a fifteen year old girl it needs to be considered a more serious crime than if a woman has sex with a fifteen year old boy. Despite what the law may say about it, most judges and juries do regard man - girl sex as a more serious offense.

The general attitude is, "Girls get raped. Boys get lucky." This attitude is consistent with human nature.

My strong impression is that there aren't very many teenage boys who would object to being seduced by a female teacher. Most would love every minute of it. But of course, it's still rape, it's still wrong, and it's still illegal.

From a practical standpoint, the real risk isn't that they will object...it's that they'll tell their friends. Kids always talk, one way or another. That alone should give teachers some pause.

When I was a junior in high school, the English teacher I had in 10th grade asked me if she could hire me to split a load of fire wood she had delivered. There seems to be a dangerous cut off point here that makes it okay to have sex with a minor, which is scary in it's own right. the cut off point is 18 is it not???

 

On this board i agree it is 18 on both sides and that is the rules which most of us are fine with for many reasons. (legally)

But in the UK it is perfectly legal for anyone 16+ to have sex.

If a male or female teacher were having sex with a 16 yr old in the UK i see no problem with that, unless they were both at the same school then it becomes a matter of breach of trust, abuse of position or ethics. (also think there are laws that try to prevent that. Not sure about that though)

 

See that is pretty much what I was thinking. People don't freak if the person is 16 but if they are 15 all hell breaks loose. Who the fuck knows anymore, times are so fucked up with it all but I still think that in Europe and the UK they are more sexually aware at a younger age due to the lack of inhibitions shown toward sex over there compared to the bleeding heart church mentality toward sexuality in the US more so then in Canada, but both places need to lighten up and clue their kids in earlier.

The more you tell your kids you can't have something ... the more they go try and get it.

Midnight = not sure
1 minute after midnight of a persons 16th birthday = legal

A person isn't legally 16 until midnight of their birth year.

Could a person be prosecuted for having sex at 11.59pm the night before the partner is 16 ?

It's illegal but very highly unlikely to result in any action in the eyes of the law.

If the law accepts it's ok 1 minute before then how about an hour ? a day? a week? a month? a year?

I've been sexually active since I was 13, and at 16 had started dating a 27 year old teacher in my high-school. Fortunately, I'd never had any classes where she was involved. That would have likely resulted in our relationship becoming known from things such as involuntary glances etc.
I didn't see it as sexually abusive then, and still don't. The fact of the matter is that it was one of the most endearing relationships in my life. I only wish that it had gone on longer than the year we had together.
She moved back to the town where she'd grown up and where her family was. We wrote each other for a time but eventually that came to an end as well. While we were corresponding, everything had to be typed and we had to be careful not to attach return addresses, or sign our letters so nothing could come back on her but still leave us free to express our feelings openly.
Was it consensual? Yes.
Was I considered a minor? Yes.
Did it in any way impair my development? Absolutely not. If anything, it not only broadened my horizons, but all of the relationships that many consider awkward in their teens, for me were extremely grounded. At an early age I'd learned the value of honesty in a relationship that has rewarded me with the fact that each and every one of my ex's are still friends.
Without the early intensity and devotion of my relationship with her, I doubt I would have been so blessed with the richness of the following relationships.
There are some that might consider her a pedophile. The fact is that I'm the one who came on to her, and after a period of time she developed enough emotional attachment to me, that a serious relationship developed.
She was terrified of being discovered, which is a big reason she returned to the town where her family lived. That for me was the only aspect of our relationship that was devastating. It appeared likewise for her.
Not all relationships between age differences and circumstances such as ours, are abusive. The heart wants what it wants.
That's not to say some are not only abusive, but horrendously damaging as well. It's for the courts to decide which are abusive, as well as attaching punishment in varying degrees to match the circumstances. In some cases, life isn't long enough, while others, well, I guess it's not for me to say. If I was asked to take a position though, in our circumstance or one that could be considered identical, I'd personally object to any punishment.
